Can you check Misty? If not broody, why is she hanging in the nesting box? That could be a reason for an attack too, being “off” don’t you think?

That being said, I thought everybody here was also feeling cranky, maybe due to the barometric pressure and weather change. There was way more chasing and pushing around than usual, especially of Poor Mr. Shehnai who was at one point standing out in the rain under the tall goldenrod, trying to stay dry I think by standing very upright, head pointed up too.

Oh she pops out eats has a poop and goes right back in! Her chest is bald and she has been stealing back the eggs I roll out from under her to collect.

Now I take the eggs and put them in another box. Only problem is, she hops out and goes to that box! I gave her the 2 golf balls to sit on. I told her she could raise up the 2 polish chicks next week if she wanted….. now that would be awesome wouldn’t it! She could mother them for a month or so. Too bad it wouldn’t work that way.

She is a very quiet hen so I am not surprised she doesn’t say much. But wow can she fight! Grumpy thing!

I can’t help feeling nature could have come up with a better approach than this molting thing. It just seems like such a miserable thing to go through!

Wild birds don’t moult like this thankfully! Can you imagine a naked turkey?!

Theses wall sitters are driving me nuts! I really need to put the mesh up so they can’t roost there.

And it’s a good 6’ to get up there. That lower one is the stall door which is 4’ high.

Rain water is supposed to be like fluffy fabric softener... however in our dirty SoCalif air the rain water just brings down the filth from our air...

Same here. Our rain used to freshen the air steps and pathways. My steps are a dirty black colour after the last rainfall.
The water can be black rust or brown depending what's dropping with it.

She was content to let me pick up and inspect each baby. She is still sitting on the last egg, I'll give it the day to start doing something.

Only 3 more months til Christmas…. Just saying!

The Noirans are everywhere now, and that includes me also! They think nothing of flying up on my head, shoulders, back, lap… whatever body part they can land on. Then they settle in for a snooze - I have created wee monsters!

Caught them on the camera earlier up on Whiskers crate. They have taken over!
