Crowing
One of my NHR gals, Walnut, is laying what I can only describe as pink eggs (middle egg).

Once in awhile one of my RIR would lay an egg like that, but not always. It will be interesting to see if yours is always pink. One of my NHR gals, Walnut, is laying what I can only describe as pink eggs (middle egg).

I’m interested, too! She’s had 3 in a row like this. She only recently started laying and her first few were small and light brown. Then the three larger pink ones. I did put out a new feeder for oyster flakes. If she was indulging in those, could that be causing the altered color?Once in awhile one of my RIR would lay an egg like that, but not always. It's bloom on the eggs. If it's heavier it can cause a pinkish, even a purple cast. That's what I thought it was, but I had to do a little research, to make sure I was correct.I’m interested, too! Her sister (also NHR from same batch) lays the lighter colored large egg on the bottom. Both girls lay the largest of my pullet eggs.
Jenn, chooks grow up so fast it’s just as hard to be a chicken mama, as it is for me to be a chicken daddy. I had to step back today and let nacho be mama to the little one. It’s painful. All I want to do is hold that little angel, but I saw the protective side of Nacho and realized that he/she was in the best care that I could ever give. Most of the chicklets went to the integration pen to sleep in safety from the bigs. Not the legbars. Leave it to a leg to want to be a big bird early.
