I will present you petition to the queen but he has not been at the job very long. A knighthood needs to be earned by deeds.
Earned by deeds and valor. For his young age, Mr Wyandottey has earned my respect already. (Not easy to do) so please mention my humble remarks to Her Royal Magenistifullness. Yours in life and death, humble squire to Mr. Wyandottey, and his court here in California.

As said before we have no experience w/ roo's ... who I understand bantam roo's (including Silkie roo's) are every much hero roo's as bigger breed roo's. A chicken roo is a chicken no matter what his size. & I would hate losing ANY chicken... it was a loss ☹️even the couple stinker hens we had to re-home to keep a peaceful/safe backyard flock.
You don’t know what you’re missing. I envite you to drive over the hill to my ranch.

Turkeys could bring gapeworm in. Good to protect them from the respiratory illness on your premises but they might trade you for a parasite!

Gape worm is very rare here. Those gobblers stay well away from the barn, they are not people friendly.

Though have to say in town people feed them, and then wonder why the toms attack them each spring!

Mugs Monday

It’s beards and muffs sort of day

Enough feathers for a mattress yet?

We've had many mellow lap-snuggly large breeds but a couple snuggle-bugs nevertheless were merciless bullies toward Silkies. One must be wise about mix & matching bantams & standard layers in a flock.

Good advice we received yrs ago was a large property works for a mixed flock where gentles have plenty of room to stay away from aggressive breeds. In smaller properties or confined runs its best not to mix bantams/gentler reputation breeds w/ bolder/larger, or aggressive reputation breeds.

I was raised on a farm where my only experience had been wonderful White Leghorns (Babcock line I think folks said), so I was unaware of temperament differences in other chicken breeds. It was quite an eye-opener for us to find such diversity in breeds when we started our small confined backyard flock 14+ yrs ago when mixing breeds. There are flighty breeds, fighting game breeds, bantam breeds, small gentle temperament breeds, giant gentle temperament breeds, aloof breeds, & then we discovered even those reputations had rogues in it that didn't fit the description! & then we discovered/experienced many health issues to confront w/poultry!

We wouldn't trade a minute of it cuz having BYC has been the best help thru it all 💕

The Polish and Silkie chicks are terrors, they are into everything! They run amok here zipping around digging up everything!

Meanwhile those Noirans have a totally relaxed outlook - sunbathing is the way to go. Yep I am definitely in camp Noirans…. 😉

I need to remind you that Sir Jaffar was a Bantam (rest in peace sir honored and beloved pet) he was vicious, a true warrior despite his small stature, he was brave and magnificent until the very end.
Just like Clyde the Brave (aka Sir Sparky)

My Farrier agrees he looks like he stuck his beak in and electrical outlet 😊

Haven’t heard from HRH in a long time, has no one written to her at all lately?

Your Majesty I am working hard at building up beards and mutts. Dorothy is sporting a glorious one like yours. She is getting lots of extra spicy mealworms.

No, thanks... I've had enough drama w/ what we've experienced so far😉

This, by far, is our 1st peaceful flock where no one is trying to kill each other...
