Leah

Wee Leah passed away today, I just couldn’t get calories into her, I might do a check of the crop to see if there are any visible signs of blockage. But I do feel there was more going on with her.

Petra is on her own now and a bit lost. Hopefully she will make some friends with the silkie chicks.
Just too many of us w/losses this year... so sorry, little girl❣️

They are sneaky, dirty buggars, aren't they! (and partially while we love them so much - smart, determined, and crafty!):lau ❤️ :lau❤️:lau
This girl has so much character. She makes me smile every day. 🥰

I will be heart broken if the dogs that roam the area catch her outside of the pen.

Oh no! What was wrong? Was she unable to pass her food? I found out 2 weeks ago when one of mine passed (thinking it was the crop because she couldn't pass anything) I did the necropsy and found a stuck egg high up. I couldn't feel this when she was alive. I was trying to get her to pass her food for a week and nothing ever passed.

I'm very sorry for your loss! :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs
:hugs :hugs :hugs

My birds love their ladder.
Gave them the Halloween pumpkins after washing the tempera paint off.

Wow! They sure love your pumpkins! None of our chickens ever went for pumpkins... however crisp-cooked buttered zucchini slices or well-cooked white sweet potato well-buttered has been a delicacy here. Zucchini plant leaves get enormous so I'm thinking a different type of squash as a trial next year. As huge as tomato plants get, tomatoes are still more manageable than huge zucchini leaves.

Of course, the leaves are great for hiding... my BYC avatar "Taffy"

And some funny ones too.. I don’t what I said that offended her so much!

They are all lovely ❣️ SFH's... one of the few birds I admired but never had an opportune time to try them. We can only have 5 hens/no roo's so trying different breeds is limited for us 😕 ...so I'm enjoying yours 💕
