And Jaffarra’s crop was not empty this morning so she is stuck in the crate today, I feel she is eating stuff she shouldn’t. I hate to keep her cooped up (pun intended), but I do not want to do surgery on her again.

In the up side, Betty’s crop is down thankfully.

Now if I can get Eli sorted out.
Maybe put a zipper in Jaffara next time you have to do surgery?

When I researched it decades ago it was reported there are also 5 different strains of Mareck's. I guess viruses have a way of mutating, darn it. But so far, we've not had any more Mareck's issues here & since going thru it several years ago w/a couple shipped birds, we never got unvaccinated birds ever again.

One good thing is that our summer mosquitos didn't bring fowl pox this summer. Really blazing hot heatwaves seem to bring on our 'quitos!
I actually like taquitos, also burritos, tacos, and enchiladas ! :clap

I was supposed to have a hospital follow-up today, but the doctor called in sick. :idunno He probably lost his golf ball yesterday and is still on the course looking for it. :tongue

That tax payment has been used multiple times already‼️...do you have a new one of those cute, little, 1/2 game birds?❣️❣️

🤔I really think it would be worth it to buy some cellulase:confused: to have on hand....you can only do crop surgery so many times on one hen before the scar tissue will affect it's functioning.....the poor dear. :( They sometimes just don't know what is good for them...and what isn't. :idunno

Yes I was going to get some actually.

Need to see where I can find if here.

I can! I'm an hour away from Ideal Hatchery, and they have a great selection. I go pick them up the morning that they hatch! It's awesome.
I know birds aren't supposed to be as healthy or high quality as birds from a breeder but so far mine are healthy (granted it's only been a little over a year). My experience with a local breeder was less positive. Those poor birds were absolutely jammed into cages. It makes me sick to see that.
There are good breeders and there are bad ones. Ideal Hatchery does have a minimum standard you can count on.

You get your chicks from a source you trust and situations you are comfortable with. No one should judge you for that.

OR Juju or Jujy... remember the JUJUbears & Jujyfruits candies?

JuJu or JuJy ~ SWEET either way 😁
I loved jujyfruits! I miss them.
