I am very concerned when a dog that dug its way into my yard twice. My birds are at risk when I have to be in town for dialysis 4 hours per treatment. Mr Wyandottey might be the rooster to defend the girls, and WOULD be killed
Oh no! Do you have a run (beyond the coop, but protected) that they could stay in while you’re gone?

This is the last thing that you need to be dealing with now. ☹️

Ladder was originally to retrieve the eggs, then became both. Now neither, really, because at the moment none has laid in the trees in weeks. Iirc, it started with the rain. Soggy mess. I ended up putting nesting material in there when the rains stopped and some returned, but it’s been abandoned in favor of the freezer box as of late.

I have not seen blood or nails yet anywhere, but it likely happened days ago so may be harder to spot without really digging through. Interesting enough thought though that I’m going to check out some of the nests more thoroughly and keep an eye out for any other signs of trouble with their wee toesies.
We had wood nestboxes yrs ago, but after the torn toes, we added plexiglass bottom liners in the wood boxes to prevent splinters/torn toes. Later we got all plastic nestboxes & no more toe incidents.

My yard keeps dogs out in the front of the property, but digging under my fence is too much 😡

Great idea except neighbor’s property is a 2 ft step lower than mine, a reinforced brick wall would be extremely expensive.
Then can you lay hardware cloth down and get friends or pay a worker or two to help you lay some concrete blocks or pavers on your side?

I can't imagine anything easier to clean than that. Pretty genius

I have old tires, but the dog just digs around them
Lay a big strip of hardware cloth, buried somewhat under ground. Tires on top, and concrete blocks in between.
I've dealt with terrible dog owning neighbors. You might need to be proactive.
I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this though.
