I checked the oldest egg under my broody, suspecting it had died, I was going to remove it. But it’s very drawn down, possibly internally pipped (couldn’t tell for sure) but I saw movement! Now even if it hatches today, that’s 5 days late! I can’t take it from her, so hopefully it isn’t deformed from incubating so long.

Keep us posted WV, fingers crossed all is ok :fl

The crossbeak chick I had to help has improved but still a long way from okay. I think we may cull it if it hasn't improved enough by tomorrow. It started off not able to hold it's head up at all, but by yesterday evening was able to in bursts. I gave it grow gel by putting it in it's mouth, another sip of b-complex and dipped it's beak in water several times to help it to drink. Unfortunately it still isn't eating on its own and most of the time just lays there. It's not thriving at all. We've decided to give it another day to see if it changes or improves anymore and if not we'll put it down. I don't want it to slowly wither away and I don't think it has much hope of having a good life at this rate.

Sorry you have to make that decision Ashley, but maybe for the best if it isn't thriving.:hugs
