Help! 3rd day with chickens ever and dog bite. 100% novice

If she smells like rotten meat she has infection.
Flushing one time with the Peroxide is o.k. Switch to betadine, clorhexidine or saline for further cleaning. Apply a triple antibiotic ointment or Vetericyn on the wound.

Next time you clean her up, trim away some of the feathers that will get into the wound. It looks like it has fluid or pus under the skin?
I'm not really seeing an "open" wound - was this caused by punctures from the dog's teeth? It would be good to figure out where the skin was broken. Check her over again.

You mention you have Amoxicillin on hand. That would be good to use. Dosage is 125mg/kg (57mg per pound of weight) given 2 times a day.

What are you normally feeding your new chickens? I would make her poultry feed available, you can try it dry or entice her with some wet feed.
A little scrambled egg is usually well recieved. While she is separated, make sure she has a little grit (crushed granite) available as well.

Also you asked about putting something in her water, yes, good idea. Do you have any Poultry vitamins? Nutri drench or Rooster Booster or something like that? If not, you could use a human multi vitamin without iron short term or a B Complex vitamin (these would go in her food). Or better again if you have electrolytes to add to her water? I have seen a recipie online somewhere for electrolytes if you don't have any so I will look it up if need be!

My 60lb shepard grabbed her and had her in his mouth. he didnt bite down on her hard just caught her. im thinking its infected punctures from his canines but im not sure. there was just a very small amount of blood when it happened (didnt even touch the ground before it stopped bleeding) should i try to drain it if its fluid under the skin? also its 2:15 am right now? should i wait until morning to try and see where the smell is coming from/drain the fluid/pus?
right now i have her eating poultry crumble and i watched her eat/drink yesterday.
Im guessing i should cut the feathers close to the skin as apposed to pulling them out to not hurt her?
I would look her over right now because she sitting 5 feet from me in my living room but i feel like getting her up at 2:15 wouldnt be worth the stress. she is prob still a bit traumatized
i will be starting her on the amoxicillin tomorrow morning as well as getting none pain relief neosporn (is this the best option?). they are pills for me so ill jsut shave them and use my small scale to measure out dosage for her.

Plain Neosporin is fine.

If that is fluid under the skin you can try draining it. Chicken pus is usually a semi-hard cheese/waxy substance.

No need to disturb her in the middle of the night. Wait until you have better light, some rest and it's her normal waking hours. But investigating her whole body would be good.

What strength are your Amoxicillin pills?

amoxicillin-clav 875-125mg

amoxicillin-clav 875-125mg
Since you have that combination (Amox/Clav) then yes, crush it/shave it an weigh out your dosage.
Don't forget to weigh your hen too:)

If you need to, put the powder in a little scrambled egg. A lot of people find they can roll it into some liverwurst and the bird will just eat it.

Yes just cut the feathers, don't pluck them. All you want to do is keep the surrounding feathers from irritating the wound so don't cut them too close to the skin as that in itself can cause irritation also. Did you see Wyorp Rocks post ref the dosage? 125mg/kg three times a day is the correct dosage. Do you know how much she weighs?

2 times a day :)

Kudos to you for teaching your dog a good drop it command. Dogs can exert quite a lot of pressure in a bite without breaking skin. After you've both rested, gently feel her over for broken bones. She may have internal injuries also. Right now, in the pics she doesn't look too bad. Since she can still run from you, and you will need to check her out regularly for the next few days, or more, you may want to just put the dog crate with her in it, out in the chicken run, instead of putting her into a fenced off area. Cover it to keep her dry from rain, of course.
