Help me narrow it down!

Try some brown and red leghorns they will add some color to your flock and they are great layers. EE’s are great but they are piggies. I personally love the Ameraucanas lay well forage well and good all weather bird. Plymouth Rock are nice as well

Thanks for the suggestions! So do you think I should add some of the brown leghorns instead of the white ones? Do they still lay as well? My EEs I don’t find eat too much but maybe that is because they sometimes get bullied away. But they are pretty huge so maybe they are eating a lot when I’m not there! Lol But we already have two so maybe I should try some actual Ameracaunas. They sound amazing!! I do like the blue eggs. And yeah, I love my Barred Rock! She is great! I hope the other colors are the same.

See if there's anyone doing battery hen rescue near you. Those gals tend to be a year to 18 months old and bright red or white (once their feathers come back in.) They've been isolated and vaccinated all their lives, so they're usually disease free - and from what I've been told, they tend to be docile. My guess is that the nasty ones end up in soup pot pretty quickly!

That’s good to know! Maybe I will add the brown ones instead. They are very pretty and a little more unique. And yeah, I have considered those as well but wasn’t sure if I should get them or not. They seem liek really good layers

Just wanted to add my two cents as I am also narrowing down breeds for my rapidly approaching order.

I have a Delaware and she is an awesome layer. Her eggs are large and beautiful and, because I have been keeping crazy records this year, I know that she lays 21 eggs a month on average. She outperforms my other three chickens each month. She is also the only one who kept laying through November, giving me 16 eggs that month. She's not super friendly but she's also not the hen who is most afraid of me. And she is a very stately and majestic bird.

Just thought about it my legbar is a fantastic layer and very big eggs not to mention good looking not really sure about how they do in cold weather. She does fine in the 20’s

Here's a pic of my flock (not the best since you can only see one girl's butt!). But I think my Delaware always stands out in photos.
