Help!!!!!

2 months ago, I lost my pet chicken and it has been extremely hard for me. I kept her last egg that she laid and it has been sitting on the shelf for exactly 2 months as of tomorrow. I'm trying to keep it forever the shell that is but I'm afraid that it might rot. What's your opinion? Will it just dry up from the inside or will it rot? What should I do to preserve it? Should I try to use a tooth pick and make a small hole to drain the yolk. This egg means so much for me and I do not want it broken. It's my last memory of her. She was 6 years old.

If it were me, I would make a small hole and drain it out. I've never done it before, but I know several people have.
Eggs can explode after sitting out too long

You should figure out a way to display it, like in a case or something to protect it.

Only cause alot of members are HELPFUL & may have answers. It's an emergency as I see it cause it will not dry up but it will rot.

You're best try is take a picture of it before you prick a small hole on the large side & blow the inside out. It may smell pretty bad. Not sure of the condition on the shell, it may break.

I think most of us have lost special birds. I know I have. I do have plenty of pictures to remember them from. I love to take pictures but a photographer I'm not. Maybe some day you will find another special bird. She may be gone but not in spirit. Good luck, try again and have fun...

I recently practiced with 2 regular eggs and I didn't blow the yolk out, I just used a push pin and a toothpick and let it drain out and they turned out fine, the reason I have delayed was just because I did not want to risk messing up but it looks like that is my only option now. Pray for me thanks.

I also lost her sister last year and so I plan on with my next chicks I get, picking out 2 that looked just like them. I still have their baby pics and I hope that helps me pick out some that look just like them.

This is my Gladys. She is going on 3 years old. Usually I would cull chicks that would probably have problems where their quality of life may be compromised. Gladys slipped through. She does have her own coop and pen and sometimes has to share. She is my current special girl and gets special care.

Yes make two holes at either end of the egg. Insert the toothpick into the egg to pierce the yolk. It should be a simple matter to blow the contents out through the second hole.
