Hello and welcome to BYC! So happy you joined us. I finally caved and ended up getting 3 Silkies (from what I can tell so far, I have 2 Cockerals and 1 Pullet) and have thoroughly enjoyed them. My youngest Silkie Cockerel, "Zane", will be 9 weeks old tomorrow & I witnessed 3 crow attempts from him yesterday! I am hoping to get a video today. You've joined an amazing virtual "family" that will enjoy and share your love of chickens! Looking forward to seeing your chicks. Please feel free to post some pictures of your pair

Here are both of my lil silkies. Thank you for the warm welcome. I’m enjoying my new found love ❤️

I can't wait to find you on the silkie thread! We can always use more silkie lovers! Your chickens look amazing!
I replied to the poll, I have 2 blue roos, one blue girl, and 2 buff girls, all silkies. I have more chickens but the rest aren't silkies. So far everything is going good.
Have a great day!

So, because buff and partridge share the brown colors, are they similar genetically? Probably not but curious to know if you crossed your blue with your buff and what happened? What did chicks come out as? It’s like Christmas! I’m waiting patiently (urrr, maybe not so patiently) to see what’s inside these little eggs packages (if anything).

I haven't bred together a blue and a partridge before, but, there is a website called poultry genetics calculator http://www.mechelsekoekoek.com/breedbook/?action=geneticscalculator so you can look it up on there if you want.:)

I haven't breed them yet because the silkie girls aren't laying yet:(, and I will probably wait until they are done with pullet eggs to incubate (unless they do it themselves). Though if I wanted I could incubate a couple of Ameraucana-silkie mixes right now, but I think I will wait until spring.

I think if I mix blue and buff it would just be a mixed color, pet quality, but I'm fine with that.

Good luck with your hatch!

Understandable... I know it’s not the greatest idea to incubate pullet eggs- especially her very first ones but I’m going to give it a go. I have 3 right now starting 5 days ago and she just went in her box to lay another. I hope, if they do hatch, they are healthy... I’m too much of a woos for anything to go wrong but I know this can happen and I’m trying to mentally prepare.
