I like Black Australorp, ISA Browns (they are great egg producers) Black Stars, Plymouth Rock and Rhode Island Reds, Ameraucanas and Delawares. Those are my personal favorites.

The more heat tolerant, the better.... Andalusian, Sapphire Gem. If I didn't have too low a fence, I'd consider egyptian fayoumi.

Thank you for your input! I currently have barred rocks, australorps, silver laced Wyandottes and copper marans. I'm currently hatching out mixed breeds with the dad being a buff orpington and the moms are unknown

I agree. Australorp i guess is not the best breed to be in the heat lol. I do have a ton of shade and water that. including A misting machine. i like some hardy breeds because were we live we do get snow. unless your in Florida or somewhere in the south were you rarely get snow.,

I personally have been looking for cream legbar chickens.
1. They are beautiful and upon research seem to be a more friendly chicken
2. Produces blue eggs- right now my chickens will lay pinkish, brown and chocolate.
3. I think I am addicted to chickens.

I wouldnt choose white leghorns for a backyard family oriented flock! very skittish and the roosters are very aggresive!( this is just my opinion and from my excpirence)
