There’s a Stacker Hatcher group on Facebook. I haven’t tried it myself but overstuffed incubators is definitely a thing.

I hope the candling goes well and you can thin successfully.

Saddling is typically caused by trauma to the egg. Which is why it’s common in shipped eggs. The air cell sifts down between the shell and the internal membrane. Creating a pocket, aka saddle. Eggs can have multiple saddles in a few directions. They’re not always evident on initial candling.

I just didn't have much of an option this time around, sadly. Part of me acknowledges the fact that I need to thin, and I'm sure it will happen, but the other part desperately wants every last egg to hatch.

Oh, okay. I've had 'wonky' air cells, as I like to call them, but not detached or saddled.

I keep seeing DIS... Death in shell? Does that happen often? I've only incubated twice before, and each time there was one baby that needed some assistance. I don't like the idea of doing nothing and having them possibly die. (Although the goose I assisted didn't form quite properly...)

Days 15. Still the same 19 eggs I’ve had for awhile. Air cells and development look great. After my success last hatch (minimal DIS) I’m locking down on day 17 again. We’ll see if this batch hatches well too. View attachment 3167906

Nope...my DVD's are arranged alphabetically and I know from across the room when my DH moves one because he thinks it's funny

With each hatch I've done there is usually one DIS...for whatever reason in lockdown the lil baby just dies. Never internally pips.

Im getting excited bout the babies so I went ahead and candeled the 3 question ones I had from the other day...1 looked amazing! Other 2 still unsure but no smell. So gonna leave em in!
14 out of 18 still going!!!

They don't necessarily have to have never internally pipped to be a DIS. Any chick that dies while still inside the egg, even after an external pip, or even a zip, is considered DIS. Just one of the sad inevitabilities of hatching eggs.

Yes it is! Next year we should plan another hatch together!

Sounds good, first I have to see if I can find homes for the extra I hatch this year. Lol.
