I was mistaken. When it dried out and got fluffy it proved to be blue, not black.

Wow congratulations! Day 19, right? An Early Bird has hatched!
My son saw it zipping while he was feeding the cats and we watched it come out. It's a black one.
I'll have a photo once my son sends one to me.

It never started. Sometimes they just look like that. Maybe this one was on its way to becoming a bad egg. It's hard to know for sure but I'm confident it was unstarted.Ok so candled all eggs. I saw something in all 3 splash Cochin eggs but hard to see in those eggs. 7/9 project eggs have babies, 1 I am not sure. And one with messed up air cell I see nothing.
Out of 16 BBS, from seller last time that eggs did nothing, I saw one ? Maybe 2. The rest I saw nothing.
I do have a question. I removed 1 since I saw nothing and air cell seemed to still be floating all over. I cracked it and didn't see veins but the yolk was kind of discolored and swirly. Pics posted. Is this an early quitter? Late starter? Messed up yolk? Some were like this last time too. It is day 4
The new seller I found is great!!!! Even if they messed up the #'s of each I should have gotten, she offered to make it right and I think 11/12 are developing! Maybe 10!!!!It never started. Glad the others, mostly, look good. That's wonderful news.

To be that early I'd think it almost have to be...but as hot as it is (and humidity out the roof) here in TN anything is possible. Two early birds, this morning!
Yes.
Is it possible that an egg sat on by a broody all day gets a jump start then holds when it's take from under her?
I never missed a day collecting, but since my sons won't deal with my biting broody there were times that the eggs under her didn't get collected until 8 or 9 at night.
