My 2nd shipment of July eggs arrived today! Combination of Blue Birchen Marans eggs and Opal Legbar eggs. Best packing ever!!! Soooooo much time and effort went into packing these eggs! each egg was wrapped in a long length of bubble wrap and secured with an easy to tear priority mail sticker and then a packing peanut was inserted on each open end to help hold the egg in place. They were shipped on their sides (but made it here quickly) in rows of 2. Bottom layer and top layer - top layer was offset instead of directly on top of the egg below with packing peanuts to fill in the open space. Box inside a box that used air pillows and styrofoam slabs to keep everything steady. And the best part.....it was advertised as 9 eggs in the ebay sale.....but.....They sent 14!!! 5 extras!!! Air cells are in pretty good shape in most of them! I have 2 very intact side air cells (like they formed that way) in the legbar eggs and 1 completely detached air cell and 1 saddle air cell in the Marans eggs. The rest of the air cells are just slightly jiggly.

Wow! Who was the seller? Would be worth a Good Egg/Bad Egg review! It seems a rare thing to get 1 extra these days, much less 5! Nice!

Think I just died from their prices :th

I guess I’m just used to picking mine from the coop 😂 And if I do buy I think the most I spend was $12 on a dozen local BCM eggs that come from good bloodlines

I paid $45 plus shipping - breaks down to $3.00 an egg plus shipping, which I don't think is too terrible considering I would probably have to spend just as much in gas to go get eggs for the breeds I want plus lose time going to get them. Everyone in this area seems to have the more common breeds that are easily available through the feed stores, so I would have to travel quite a ways.

ETA: These were reasonably priced compared to others! There are some being sold by individual egg that are going for $27.00 each. The person I got my Wheaten Marans eggs from had some auctions go as high as $71.00 for 10 eggs. It's crazy!

I bought all of my purebreds a few years ago from a local farm and I had a choice of so many different kinds. Now I just mix them all to see what I get.

The last person I bought quail from it was $.50 per egg and I got a ton of Falb fee which is a good thing.

I don’t know if I’ll ever spend $50 for a dozen eggs. I’m a tight wad like scrooge. My family actually calls my dad that 😂

A person that is local to me is trying to sell hatchery pullets for $15... last time I got sexed chicks from a hatchery they sent me two roosters not pullets. I’d never pay $15 for hatchery chicks pullet or not 😂 that’s like playing Russian roulette to me... see I’m a tight wad

I am really hoping to have a couple hens and a roo of each kind so I can sell chicks. I think they would sell really well where the breeds I am getting are pretty rare out here. :D Also want to sell eating eggs - should have a great color variety with all these breeds!

Yeah, I think I would want a non hatchery pullet for that price....and far enough along that you definitely know it's a pullet.

Yeah exactly because butchering a $15 cockerel that was supposed to be a pullet would really rub me the wrong way. I’m not sure what breeds she has... I did text to get a list of the breeds but I know I won’t be buying
