LOL My work keeps wanting me to sign up for the wellness program.... but it doesn't count pig and chicken wrangling into the steps. I told them that I'm better shape than any of their city folk for what I do everyday. How many calories do you burn carrying a 5 gal bucket of water across the pasture or chasing a chicken to get them in the house.

Yes, mine have been bullying my mother since September 2017... I need to get them back living with me. She’s let them pick up all sorts of bad habits like jumping up, stealing her food from her plate, she will let them paw at her sandwiches! She doesn’t make the sit for feedings or treats, it’s very frustrating for me. Pawing her face to wake her up for treats. She also feeds them too much bad human food then gets angry that they throw up. They are my little babies.

I was going to get one kitten to keep my older cat company, then I thought maybe if they don’t get along kitten will be lonely so I will take two, oh there’s one more and it will be left all alone? I’ll take all three then. So I walked a couple miles down the highway with three little kittens in my sweater on summer evening (the 12 year old that gave them to me could see a sucker a mile away!) that was back in 2004, if I recall correctly.

Charlie is left, Whisper is right. Whisper had rolled in sidewalk chalk in the picture with the leash.
Oh, the kitty cuteness!:love... you were so sweet to get all three
Did you ever see mine... Pippin and Bobby?

OMG! what beautiful cats! especially ...Pippin? the blonde one. I'll have to get photos of mine to brag about! :D
Here’s some pictures my mother shared with me of early last spring/summer. These cows are no longer with us, they were born the spring before we moved to the farm. I grew quite attatched to them, but we are a meat farm. I am consoled by reminding myself that they were very happy cows their whole lives.View attachment 1776455 View attachment 1776453

Someone loved his brushes and chin scritches. I probably spent more time grooming these cows than the horses got in the last three years.

They also liked to come up and randomly lick people. They came when called, understood “whoa” meant stop, and one even had the “drop it” down too (especially handy for when they tried to eat the carpet off the RV steps).
I'm all for training animals!
I think a trained animal is happier ...and so are the humans they live with! It's all about learning a little of each other's language so we can communicate our needs to each other.
I'm training my chooks to come when I call "Chook! Chook! CHOOOOK!" . I usually have mealworms or some other treat when I call so they are learning fast!

Oh, I can’t wait to see!! Yes, Pippin is the white one...

I have one of my bully birds in time out and I put another one with her the other day for company... well, Maryn apparently jumped over the fence and I didn’t notice for at least 2 hours.. when I went to check and realized.. I started my search to find her over at my neighbors house out in her front yard.. I was still in my yard when I could see her so I call her “Maryn, get over here”... she sees me and comes running!! And so I open the run and she goes right in :)... very sweet! I told my hubs and he couldn’t believe it! He’s like... “they come to you like a dog!?” I said.. “better than some dogs!”

Apparently they are also very good at distinguishing “their” people. When I was in town last and my husband was looking after the chickens for me, Mr Marans was quite “suspicious” of him. “He kept watching me funny, and made me almost nervous”, Andrew said to me when I got back. “He wasn’t aggressive or anything, just kept watching me”. Andrew’s quite good with livestock, so it’s not like he’s afraid or accidentally provoking him.

Mr Marans is a very good Rooster, so I’m just going to say he was doing his job... Yesterday I was moving a large box to the burn barrel, past his pen, and he herded all his girls into the “safe” corner under their roosts and stood there staring at me! I wonder what the best way to go about socializing my chickens is? Probably getting as many different people to bring them treats as possible.

Chicken chores were about an hour behind schedule this morning, because one of my Meat girls was quite bad last night. I fully expected to wake up to a dead chicken in my bathtub this morning, but I woke up and watered her a few times last night and she seems much better this morning. She is standing, pooped a lot, and is drinking. Her breathing seems almost back to normal. So I spent a while with her this morning watering her and changing her towel before I got to the rest of the chickens. I’m not sure what happened to her, but I think she was very dehydrated.

This is my first time doing meat birds, and I don’t know exactly what is “normal” for them, but I’m aware of some heart and leg issues that are more common with them. I’m thinking maybe coccidiosis? But I’m not sure and haven’t seen any bloody droppings.

All cats are beautiful, but wow Pippin looks like a super model! And the little cat bed? Maybe mine aren’t so spoilt after all!

Morning Kris :frow
Morning Bob :frow I agree with you on the farm fitness plan completely! I signed up for the discounted company fitness program, I actually went to the gym 3 whole times that year, once for a missed payment and setting up a new CC with them (my card was compromised on a vacation and I forgot about the pre-auth), and it took two visits to cancel the membership after the 1 year term was up. Total waste of $$$, and that was before I had all these animals to run around for, really where would you find the time?
