Hi! I’m hoping you fellow chicken friends can help. We have 2 white leghorns (10-12 weeks old) and I can’t figure out if the 2nd one is a rooster or a hen!

I know leghorns typically have bigger combs and wattles. But this ones seem to be slightly more pink and not as large as our male (first picture) We currently have speckled Sussex chickens so I’m not familiar with the larger comb breeds!

Anyone with leghorns that can help?

At this age, I'd think a comb that size would be starting to flop over if they were a pullet. Pretty sure the first is a boy. They mature fairly early with the pullets beginning to lay @ 5 months (and I think the cockerels crow earlier than that) so you shouldn't have long to wait. Have you weighed them? There are studies on Leghorn weight difference between the sexes and I believe at this age 90 someodd percent of cockerels will be heavier than pullets.

I didn’t even think to weigh them that’s a good tip! I feel like it’s so hard to tell with the larger comb breeds. And their tail feathers aren’t developed enough yet to distinguish.

I vote boy. I have 4 Leghorns, 2 girls and 2 boys. I'm still fairly new to chickens so take my guess with a grain of salt, but my girls are 12 weeks and have no where near that big of a comb. No crowing yet though I'm guessing? Always a chance until they crow or lay an egg 😃
Yupp no crowing or eggs yet! It’s so funny ive seen some females with barley any combs at this age and then others with larger ones so I’m very confused 😂
