I agree, I would bet the actual temperature inside the incubator is much lower than the unit is reading.
Also, I have hatched young pullet eggs before, but until they work out all the kinks in their system, its better to wait until their eggs are full size and consistent. My theory is that sometimes the yolks are too small, and/or the shells aren’t fully developed the way they need to be. Things like that can cause them to die and we can’t always tell why.
