Malpositioned/shrink wrapped duckling?! HELP!

Then to the movies.

For real. It may not do anything for a good 24 hours.

Just wait, I know it's horrible but it's still best to wait.

Ok so the oldest of the 4 remaining, #2, pipped internally and externally at the wrong end... same as #1...
do I intervene at any point? He is the lone survivor of the first 3, and is currently at day 32...

The other duckling #5, has had no change since he pipped this afternoon, and #4 & #6 are the same, no change.

That green sludgy stuff is in this egg also... this is #2... the 32 old one.
He also looks like he has a “zit” on the end of his bill.
He is licking and making chewing motions and wiggling.
I’m leaving him be unless y’all tell me that green stuff is no bueno... it was present in both the first two that passed...

How long has that hole been there now?

So far I think it looks ok. The green stuff is concerning, but it’s fairly normal in that end of the egg. Hopefully it won’t impede the zipping.

The zit on the bill is his “egg tooth”. They use it to crack and zip the shell, then it disappears a couple days after hatching. (Unless you mean there is something else there that I’m missing in the pic)

The hike has been there now for 9 hours.
The green stuff looks like duck poo.
There had been no change to this hole since last night. He is chirping and moving but I see no further cracks. His feather fluff seems to be drying in the egg

It could easily take 24-48 hours before he starts to zip further. I know waiting is rough, but I would try to hold off doing anything to help until at least 24 hours.

Watch for the edges around the hole to look dry, leathery, and brown. You don’t want that to happen. Otherwise I’d try to be as patient as possible. Keep him active though. Tap on the window, talk to him, etc.
Yawning motion means yolk is still being absorbed, so as long as he is doing that, he should be fine for a bit.
