I do and would use Veterycin on any injury... blu kote, I do not use... it was designed to hide the red of a raw wound to discourage others picking at the wound site... I isolate all my wounded, so have never used it... Veterycin and clear iodine are my go to's for wounds/infections, especially with ducks...
Exactly...True, but now the foot is swelling... oral antibiotic can only do so much though...
This is the point *I believe* Kathy was trying to make... IF the swelling is being caused by an infection, then that will need to be cleaned out thoroughly/manually pulled out as poultry infections/pus goes hard and cheesy rather than liquid pus... and if the chunk/s are not removed, even with an oral antibiotic, then the wound will not heal properly or at all...
I did buy it but I was so worried to apply it to my ducks wound she was perforated with a ballpoint pen size hole where she had a hernia. Ended up leading to her skin and part of the vent to go necrotic, not sure if it would have helped or hurt in that situation.
Veterycin or Blu Kote?
Holy....relax everyone.....I think its under control and making this person more upset is counter productive...![]()
