Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Land around here in the boonies goes for $4500-7k an acre with nothing on it. When I found our farm on CL my hubby initially was going to buy and agreed and then got cold feet and backed out of signing a contract. When I pointed out that the farm with a house a 4000 sq ft enclosed shop with water and electricity and 4000 sq ft open air barn and a 3 car tractor barn cost less per acre than anything we looked at with nothing on it! We got the deal of the century 68 acres with all the extras for $265k That was a deal. We sold the house to my son for $170 and still have the 3 buildings and 63 acres.

awesome! I'm wanting to make sure I have plenty of land for my parents to move with me if necessary as they age. I don't want them to have to worry about things. My mom has had to work so hard and sacrifice so much taking care of my dad that I just want her to be able to get a break if she needs it. I also have some friends that want to work cooperatively with self sufficiency and etc. So, I'm hoping if I keep looking I will be able to find something that's as good of a deal as what you guys found. I'm not in a rush, so I'm hoping when I'm closer to being ready to buy, I will find something perfect

When hubby backed out of the deal we were crushed! It had everything he wanted, creeks (2) springs (countless they are all over), well water and city water, Internet (big deal breaker). It was perfect, he was just afraid of the notes. He had never carried a note that big before.

That didn't work! How about the email image . . ..

Only one more option . . . HTML code

<a href="http://media.photobucket.com/image/good morning/bentalkhaleaj/good-morning-bentalkhaleaj.gif?o=11" target="_blank"><img src="http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz279/bentalkhaleaj/good-morning-bentalkhaleaj.gif" border="0"></a>

OK - I've tried all four options...AND nothing worked! I might need better directions because I am not getting the task done!

I guess I should have said something about the Editor where you type in your post. Look across the top and you will see images of different things. A little over half way to the right is a square that is next to an image that looks like film. Click there and another box opens and you have a choice. Choose the one on the right (Image URL) and paste that link there. To post another PIC you have to go through those motions again. If someone knows an easier way to post multiple images I would love to know how.

I don't blame him. I try to deal with cash as much as possible. The first loans I've ever had were with my truck (paid off in 2 1/2 years) and now my student loans. At that I took out as little as possible (13,000) so I could pay as much in cash as possible. Planning on paying those down even faster now that my job has given me two decent raises since I've been there only about 6 months. Working on plans to help pay for whatever payments I will have on a place with skills and talents i have (art, green thumb, animals, etc) so I can keep putting money aside from my job for life and being able to pay more down on loans. Have I mentioned I hate debt? haha I know its necessary if I'm gonna ever have land tho

Morning all!

COLD out there!!

Mornin Katelyn! Just got back in from doing chores....its deceptive out there. Its sunny as anything, but that wind is cold and goes right through you! Its odd too cause the wind is from the southwest, doesn't happen all that often here. Usually its the north or just straight west.

I will have to look at your emails here in a bit. I've gotta get a couple of other things started since I'm not gonna be here this afternoon.
