Metal Shed\Coop ordered + Texas

In re: fans,

If you use one make sure that's rated for outdoor and barn use -- sealed against weather and dust.

Otherwise the best case is that it stops working. The worst case is that it starts a fire. Feather dander and the dust from straw, wood shavings, and other beddings are highly flammable.

Update: So the heat wave hit and were getting around 95 ish degrees. The ladies are panting but not see much wing expansion so I take that as a good sign. Thanks to these forums, I have incorporated several ideas\suggestions and it has appeared to be successful so far. I've ordered two custom 90% black sun screens 6'x15' which will wrap both sides and meet at the doorway. This really helps with the sun rise & setting. The smoked poly panels only reduce 30% light. You can see where I had to clip it up so the fan performs better.

The fan is from TSC and is connected to a thermostat so it comes on @ 80 degrees. The ladies are no longer scared of it and as you can see, they like to sit in its path. I have been watering down the ground from the fan and back. The evaporation off the ground makes it cooler. The paver in the water is also in the path of the fan and watched two girls stand on it. They were not panting and in fact ones eyes were closing like she was dosing off.

Last night, I took the misting system and configured it to just one. Strapped it to the rebar drove in the ground. At first they didn't seem to like it but came back around. This is still new so will keep an eye on it. Don't plan on running the mister a whole lot. Don't want a big mess to deal with.

The mister and fan (will get a different one) will go to the ceiling but for now I didn't have the time nor money. So I am working with what I've got. I am sure everyone knows how that goes.

Look at exhaust fans. Mount it as high as you can on the wall or ceiling to pull the hot air out. You can find them solar powered and with a built in thermostat.
That's what I did, and it works great!
