My chickens only want pasta

Our car broke down in the summer, and we were stranded for 3 hours on the side of the road with nothing but a 2 liter of warm Diet Dr Pepper. It was 108 outside. No shade. Sketchy cell service.

If I didn't hate if before, I really hated it after that.

:oldI can not believe you are dissing The Doctor (… but yeah, that sound way gross! :sick)

Ah... OK you guys are a little funny first thing in th.e morning. :gig

Did you know that you should NOT leave the greens on the carrots for storage ans they will continue to suck the sweetness from it and turn it to bitter yuckness? :pop
I believe she said her chickens ate the greens first, then the carrot. Sounds like happy hens to me!

Sometimes... animals are smarter than humans. :p

The greens look beautiful on the carrots. Before cable TV and all the cooking and science shows I would have left them on... to store in the fridge for my family. But my family doesn't eat the green part only the root. :)

Are your chickens part rabbit? I can't get mine to eat carrots:confused:
That was many, many years ago. They had some help from the ducks and a goat. Once the carrot were broken up, they ate 'em just fine. Nowadays, my banties will eat the greens, but not the carrots (unless they're cooked. If I peel them first, they'll eat the peels, but not the carrots. Goofy birdlings!

A whole carrot would *probably* rot here, until broken up like ya say. If I do feed them out either shredded or small chopped they disappear quickly, cooked or raw. I feel like the birds actually get it to stay in the gizzard longer by being small chops instead of shreds.

I use carrot greens to substitute for parsley, since I tend to grow way more carrots than parsley. Though most of the time the greens end up going to the chickens... whenever I see someone at the farmer's market ask the vendors to break off the greens, I'm always going "I'll take it!!"
