My rooster isn't doing it right.

My rooster has sex with the hens like he just got out of prison. But I have yet to see any blood in the eggs showing fertilization. My rooster is 6 months old and fully grown. Is he just never going to get it or are the eggs fertilized and I'm just not seeing it?

Blood in eggs is not related to fertility. To determine fertility either crack and examine the blastodisc on the yolk or incubate and candle to assess for development...which would be evidenced by veining being visible

Keep a sharp eye on your hens. If you notice any of them laying on their back in the nest, propping their head up with one wing & smoking a cigarette, you can be pretty sure they've been bred

If he is just 6 months, give him time. My roosters are 5 1/2 months and haven't mastered the whole "sex" thing yet

Little roosters really don't do much of anything absolutely right,but the mating thing is top on their list of stuff to learn! My hens are up to half a pack a day easy.

It takes young cockerels some time to get the hang of everything, but he'll get better. OGM gave you good advice on checking your eggs for fertility. There should be no blood.
