it says 40 percent but it hasnt gone lower then 35 percent it might be wrong idk...

I would calibrate the hygrometer to make sure it's reading correctly:

Ok thanks this will help alot and do you have any suggestions to cheap emu incubators?

Yes, I actually made my own! Do you have $50 you can spend, and an old aquarium laying around? If not, those cost maybe around $10 at walmart. I made mine from this Incukit and a ten gallon aquarium. I also bought some foamboard insulation from Home Depot to insulate the bottom and three of the sides of the aquarium, and a Lexan panel to mount the Incukit in. I used a couple bottles of water as a heat sink and an ice cube tray to hold water for humidity.

Thats brilliant! You have that much open water as a humidity tray? I have one closed jar as a "humidity tray" my hydrometer is definitely off! i already put it in with the salt! if that is your incubator mine will do the job!

I didn't always have all of the trays filled, usually only about half. When I was incubating was the driest time of the year here though, so I did need a decent amount of surface area to get the humidity to the proper levels.

Ok this all helps tremendously thank you for being so kind to spread your advice all over the internet! But honestly, does my egg sound like a dud? Is it highly unusual to lose 4 grams in one day?

Well, it's a not a great sign, but if your hygrometer isn't reading right, that could be the cause of it.

Not to make you nervous, but my only egg that lost that much weight more than it was supposed to last year was infertile and a dud. But I also knew my hygrometer was accurate and had other eggs that were losing weight properly so I knew it was a problem with the egg, not the humidity.
