October Hatch-A-Long?

Sounds totally legit! I don't have the excuse to get in there to turn them though, lol. I usually leave them in the egg turner to candle. I'm really, really trying to leave these alone until Day 10, they're on Day 4 now. Not bothering with the quail eggs, they're impossible. I'll just pull the clears at lockdown.

I've decided that candling the eggs without touching them doesn't count! I already have to open the lid to turn the eggs and I can just shine my candler on them while they lay there. Logical, yes?

You're doing great, stay strong! Having some of my eggs upright and some on their sides, some turning and some only tilting has actually been a fun challenge.

The last SB egg hatched this morning. Still crossing fingers for the 2 AC eggs.

Have you hatched shipped eggs before? Did yours travel very far? This is my first time and I think it's going okay considering they came from LA to CA, which is pretty far. I currently have 4 of 6 developing. I didn't turn them at all for 5 days and now I'm hand tilting them. The air cells were quite loose on arrival, but not completely detached. I so want to have at least a little success with them.

This is our second time with shipped eggs. The first time we got a set from North Carolina, and we had about a 50% hatch rate. However, we didn't know about letting them sit to reestablish the air cells before setting and turning them. We also had them shipped directly to the house the first time. This time we picked them up at the post office, and we let them sit for 24 hours out of the incubator and 48 hours in incubator before we started them on the egg turner. I am hopeful that will improve our hatch rate a bit. It may be tricky, though, because of the Olandsk Dwarfs. I gather they are difficult to hatch. My fingers are crossed one of our hens will go broody in the next few days and we'll be able to finish some of them under her.

took a peek today and the little guy was dancing around in the egg, bobbing up and down. These next 9 days seem agonizingly long! Tossed three clears and am down to 3 eggs that look great.

50% seems pretty great for your first try! I hope these CA eggs do even better for you. For some reason the ones I'm looking for are always clear across the US.

Today is day 7 for me. BTW, I'm using the Hatchabatch app and it counts Day 0 as Day 1. To me, Day 7 has to be on Thurs because I set the eggs on Thurs, just as Day 21 will be on Thurs too. Yesterday, Weds, it reminded me to candle. So for a hatching app to count incorrectly is annoying to me.

Even after removing 6 clears and 2 blood rings, my incubator still looks full. I've put the turner in now and am happy I chose to overfill and hand turn for the first 7 days. Humidity remains set at 30% because I think the air cells look good.

I don't think all my marans eggs are developing, but I can't see through all of them so they're still included. Two of the six shipped eggs were clear and another looks to be in the process of quitting. Those eggs will stay upright for now and I'll continue tilting them. They're going to get vibrated a little when the turner slides but I want my other eggs to get the full benefit of automatic turning.
