Guys, I feel awful. My beloved, dumb as a rock cochin Bubbles looks like a turken
She is missing so many neck feathers. I think/hope/pray it is only the result of over preening and other attempts to attack the nasty crawlies on her but I still feel horrible for not realizing earlier that something was wrong

Will the feathers grow back soon? Or will she look like that until she goes through her first adult moult?

How old? Unfortunately it will likely take until her first moult, unless the shafts are plucked out too.

How is your daughter? She isn't still staying with you at the hospital is she......that would worry me with all the disease running rampant.

Yeah she is with us but she's doing great

How old? Unfortunately it will likely take until her first moult, unless the shafts are plucked out too.

10 months old I can’t believe I didn’t notice sooner. Now she has a huge bald area on the front of her neck. I hope the lice die quickly and very painfully

How long has she been like that? Could she just be molting? When my sebright molted her belly was totally naked & she didn't have a tail. I'm not sure if lice would make her totally bald though.

Oh taters I forgot you were dealing with this nightmare too. the stuff comes soon and you can kill all the blood suckers dead dead DEAD

I used the chicken dust stuff that is not suggested but i just can't deal with all this dying.

Ok, this is a big lesson for all of us...if things seem off check their skin. These bugs disgust me! Ew, makes me itchy. And when others have problems with bugs, time to check your own.

I check almost daily now. No bugs since last fall; that Permethrin spray is amazing!
