I'm trying to imagine how you would make it. Is it ground chicken? Do you use kidney beans. Do you gind your own chilies or do you get the powder stuff?
Nope. I stick the chicken in the pressure cooker then in the crock pot with beans and a lot of other yummy stuff. I get the powder; it's easier and I cook for enough people that easy is best.

I use a small file for wood, not a rasp, and flip my hens upside down. There is a line that shows the point where the growth happens, like the quick on a toenail. File to about 1/8 - 1/16 inch from it and round it out. It's easier to control how close you get to it. If its grown out too much, start with the trimmers, then use the file. After that, file a little bit weekly and see if you can get it to start forming more normally in relation to the lower one. If it does, great, if not, check weekly. The chick will notice a difference, and if it's a hen, she may learn to come and ask you to file her beak if it starts causing problems. Either way, shell get used to the routine. Once it's filed down, maintaining it won't take more than 2 or 3 mins by hand with the file.
Thanks @Anansi its a chick! It's funny how chickens get paralyzed when you flip them upside down

:goodpost: How are you Anansi? Feeling any better? Sorry to hear are the cricket order was a bust :(

Feeling better, was out for a good chunk of yesterday afternoon/evening, and same for this afternoon and evening. Went to my mom's today to work on an outfit for my daughter for an anime convention out here over Easter weekend. Yesterday was out with youngest for a bit, then picked up oldest and two of youngest's friends, went to anime store, then over to one of the friend's so we could chill and spend time playing with the baby sister.

I was just reading on another thread that kale and spinach isn't good to feed to laying hens. Supposedly it makes for soft eggs? I feed mine kale all the time. It's their favorite. Anyone else ever heard this?

Too much of anything can be bad. A guy put out several bushels of leafy greens for his 100 or so layers and had problems with thin shells... But in moderation, just not a big deal.

But you all have me wondering this morning... Too much of anything is bad for them, I wonder if they know what too much is? Different feed blends naturally have different toxins (there are toxins in everything), I'm wondering if that influences what they like for treats?
