Official Squatch Watchers

Hello everyone!

I had a wonderful nap, watched a few shows, made dinner, changed out the broody house, and now we are eating.

I stopped at TSC on the way home from church because I realized I was running low on wood chips. I stopped to show the Milk Drinker the chicks. He was pointing at them and saying "kack, kack, kack" at them. He thinks chickens say quack. When I pointed the ducklings out to him, he didn't say anything. Those poor chicks. I've never seen so much pasty butt in my life. Several of them had poop stains the size of quarters on their behinds. The duck pen was practically drowned in water and the ducks were all huddled up under the light. I know ducks are messy, but there were two empty brooders they could have transferred them to. At least they could have thrown down more wood chips!

It was depressing to say the least.

While I was there, bought a bird feeder to hold the main flock calcium supplement and some smaller feeders to put in with the birds in the PVC runs. I also bought some rabbit water bottles because, who can have too many of them.

I hate watching how TSC cares for baby chicks... But I can't buy them all...

It hit 47° so we took the bikes out.

RJ, those post pounders are great......until you hit some tatering hard thing. It's a serious jar when it happens.
I hope you can get some good sleep. I am sure you have some muscle rub ointment.

I hope the pigs are enjoying having more space and that the onions get to grow.

So far it looks good. Bacon was so thrilled to be out of the mud that she was dust bathing in the new area. I mean all four legs in the air and wiggling her back in the dirt.

That is so cute. I tried to get pix of my helper today but it just didn't work... But she was so infatuated with the birds. My ducks let her walk right into them without moving.. she was in heaven.

(Shhhhh..... )

(I just went out to tuck in the chooks (with my headlamp on like a sneaky little dork, lol)
and Luna was sleeping on top of her little clutch of surrogates. Yay!!!!)

(We'll see how she does tomorrow. :) )

G'night all. Sweet dreams, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite. Love y'all, and see you tomorrow! :love
Yay

We don’t go there any more because of that. It wasn’t only once three times so told the wife no more. I tried washing the fruit and vegetables really good and still taste it. Secondly it is owned by a company from the Middle East and I do my best not to send money to other countries. Yes it is difficult but I try.
they are not USA own that is for sure... they are German own

I love jack in the pulpit but can’t ever get it to transplant. (Someone told me it’s cause there are microbes or something in the soil that they need. So you have to bring lots of their surrounding soil) I plan on sneaking some snow drops when I leave here. My parents have Japanese iris that spread like crazy so I know I’ll get some of those too. (We’ve given away garbage bags of them) I’m going to try and do all perrenials in the ground with maybe a few pots of annuals.
That seems to be true about the Jack in the Pulpits....Trillium too. It took years for mine to multiply. If you pick the flower of a Trillium it won't ever flower again. It will still come up and grow leaves but no flower

I was able to dig up a lot of different plants from her farm besides the Aconite. She lived on an 80 acre farm and so I have quite an assortment from her woods Trillium Bluebells, Jack in the Pulpit , Dutchmans pipe, snow drops, Helleborous and several species of ferns. She also was quite a gardener and would always give me starts of her perrenials. Hostas Peonies, Bergania, Daisies and Iris just to name a few. She was a very unique lady and just passed away a few weeks ago. I'm so grateful to have had her in my life and also to have a little bit of her that lives on in my garden.

Nice collection :love so nice you have them to remember her by

So here's the latest...

Phoebe my Silkie got off the eggs, stayed off. Done. Then Big Bird hopped on 'em for a little bit. She was doing this really cute thing where she was going around the coop, picking up feathers and bits of straw, flipping them on her back, and going back into the nest and depositing them there. I was like, Yeah! Another surrogate! Mommy time!

Except it didn't last. :(

And then I remembered, I can't put those eggs back in the incubator, duh, b/c it is on lockdown. I don't want my babies to die! (cuz of course, I had to candle them one last time today, and most--if not all--were kickin'.)

So I scooped 'em up and stuck them under Luna, in the Cemani coop.

Then she got off for an hour or so, and I wanted to cry. I kept obsessively going out there to see if she would go back in, and when she didn't, I picked her up, locked her in the coop, and she went NUTS, squawking and bawking until I opened the door.

I just went out there, and guess what? She's sitting on the eggs. :thumbsup

Nobody has been in The Originals' coop. I stuck 2 fake eggs in the old nest, just in case somebody started feeling hormonal. Here's hoping that Luna will continue to sit on her new clutch, and want to hatch them out! :fl

Nothing going on in the 'bator as of now. Got my humidity to 70.

DH is *REALLY FREAKING SICK OF HEARING ABOUT MY EGGS*, lol.

I made the pilgrimage to TSC yesterday (they rewarded me with a 10% of everything coupon, yeah!) and bought a truckload of stuff (happy sigh).

Crazy Chicken Lady, yes I am. How *that* happened I still don't know.

Love ya's!:love

:ya

I read that in a whisper so as not to disturb her.

It is hard walking past the pasty butts and not being able to help.

So glad piggies are loving the expansion. I bet that was a hoot to watch.

Rae's post reminded me to go get hen feed.
They were cleaning pasty butts. Not a TSC store.

You know when you walk past people and hear stupid taters that masks you shake your head.....

Walking past where they were cleaning bottoms I hear " I can't believe they can ship them in the egg. I mean like they leave there in an egg and get here all fluffy."

SERIOUSLY! WTH!?!

OMG, some people are such TATERHOLES. Like, who does that??!!! I would have been so pissed off....
and teaches their kid that its ok to just take stuff.. especially when told to leave it

That is something I would never have known but am now fascinated by.
