So many holidays we now celebrate have their roots in sharing the excess with others.

Trick or treating was the kids going around and asking for extras. One neighbor had corn another eggs and another meat. When the whole town shared everyone had.

Fat Tuesday was an indulgence of the last of the meat to empty the stores for a new round of preservation.

I've been talking with RJ about building a smoker. I think *we* have decided on THIS ONE. I already know the safety precautions about what pallets can and can't be used so please, no need to tell me.

My concern now is, the lining. The diy-er uses heavy duty aluminum foil. I like the idea cause it's very very inexpensive (CHEAP!!! I AM COMPLETELY CHEAP!!!), but I'd like to go for something a little more permanent.... I can just see me getting little tears in the foil and having to replace it every time I use the smoker and that is no bueno.

Several ideas have been thought of. Here's what I've come up with:

Pressed tin: Non corrugated of course. Hoping to find it at Lowes.

Ceramic tile: Not sure how I would attach it to the interior or if I'd need some special glue to tack them to wood.

Clay: Again, not sure how I'd do this.... or the cost.

Can anyone give some advice or their thoughts? I'd like to TRY to get it completed before the New Year.

You couldn't use ceramic tile but they have special bricks they use for kilns you could use.
I don't think clay would be practical. I have worked with it quite a bit. Unless you want a chimnea or such. Could you use a discarded gas bbq? They sell rolls of metal at home improvement stores i think. We were going to use it in the kitchen. You can also buy rolls of thin metal for art projects.

sorry but i can not be the only one who saw the title of this thread and thought "hey other big foot/Sasquatch believers on this site"

sorry i got really excited there for a moment.

Don't discount this group. I fully believe in bigfoot baby... fully and heartily. Which is why I believed in the feral bigfoot chicken... :D

Yup... pressed tin or steel has been the frontrunner. We know it's going to add to the costs up front... but better than trying to jimmy HDAF over and over every time I *break* it... which will be always knowing me.

We are just as interesting as Bigfoot. Maybe even more so. And we don't stink and are much less hairy.....well most of us. I think Sam may be hairy....not sure though. I still picture him as Yosemite Sam. Anyway..... I digress......just stick around and join the fun

And if you really want to chat about Bigfoot, go for it. I have read a lot of books on the topic!

I don't know if I believe so much in a sasquatch in the traditionally thought of way.

I do very much believe there are a multitude of things and creatures no one knows a thing about or has ever seen.

How many here have heard of the butterfly bat?

Come now.....a show of hands.....how many have even heard those words together.
