Whats the best way to get a beaver out of the yard? It is a big beaver, not a groundhog saw the tail beaver. When I get all this mess iv'e got going on straighted out I have such a storytime for you guys! But first things first....beaver how do I remove it?

Check with the local fish and game.

The bit worry would be them cutting your trees down. That happened here in a neighborhood in West Sacramento

I know where the beaver should be there is a pond within sight I don't know why it is hanging out with me. I tried to shoo it out the gate, not my best idea. I guess I have to call because im not messing with it anymore. Iv'e got it netted off from the chickens so they don't harass it and it can go home if it wants to.

they don't like red pepper, garlic or blood
eta better find where it came in through and block that off when it is gone

Beavers will leave the water when they need to get food and have utilized the sources in the immediate area. If they have used their stored reserve they will go after more food to stockpile. They also like newly sprouted food. After it goes back to the pond, make sure they you put anything you prune or cut back outside of the area you don't want him to go. If you can put it close to the pond, that would be a good idea.

I have never had to deal with beavers. They did not go up the creek where I lived growing up and Woodland is too far from the River or Delta here

Mine are still a slight mystery.
Bantam cochins, and maybe some white bantam ameraucanas if she threw some in. And probably some Seramas. I'm being a guinea pig tester for a friend that wanted to ship some eggs my direction. Oh darn.

But see, I have one single lone turkey egg that will need some friends to hatch with anyway, so that makes it ok, right?

It is clearly the responsible thing to do. Little turkey baby needs friends!

I did, but nobody near me had ny resources.

Any farmers markets in your area? Sometimes they have fresh eggs.

Guess what! My parents decided to let me use the small hay field (which only yields 20 or so bales a year) as permanent chicken paddocks. I'm going to set up fencing into 4 separate paddocks and rotate them through that every 4 weeks, 3 seasons of the year. Winter will be spent on our garden area. This is really exciting! As nice as the stuff is, it will be good not to have to drag my poultry netting to a new area every week. Another bonus, the ground is relatively flat! I'm thinking of putting bushes (berry) and fruit trees in for shade.

Ugh. I’m beat. My FIL, SIL and I just spent 2 hours moving the birds to the hay field I was talking about earlier today. That was some hard work.

Unfortunately, I think because of the wet conditions we’ve had over the last couple of months, I think my birds have leg mites.



What will be fun to treat in 60 some birds.

I’m hoping my 7 week old Cochins and the new babies will be fine. I think I’ll need to spend a day cleaning legs in an assembly line fashion.
