Official Squatch Watchers

:hugs Rae.
I hope all the viable eggs make it.
Heartbreaking to lose any to equipment failure.
Thanks I do too. I was going to set more eggs tonight, but I'm going to hold off until I figure out the issue.
So sorry Rae :hugsHow are the eggs in the Brinsea doing?
I'm not candling them until Saturday (day 10). I'm not as worried about them at the moment though. My Brinsea rocks.

Best of luck with the Franken Bator eggs :fl
And I am excited for the white Cornish candling results!

Hiya kids!!! I really need to set an alarm to MAKE myself come out here and report in.... I've just been terribly wrapped up in so many different projects that I can't keep up.

1. Business cards and banner arrived from vistaprint today..... and they are HORRID! The banner came in stained... it looks like it's been out in the elements for a few months, or rolled up and stored, uncovered, in a leaky garage. Then we noticed, all the cards have 2 small stains in the upper right corner, on both sides, on every damn card!
Contacted vistaprint and they immediately corrected it. Said the design is supposed to make everything look *rustic*, but even the customer service guy said it looked dirty to him, not rustic. He put our template onto a different background and is sending out new business cards and a banner. Awesome customer service!!!

2. I HAVE TO get the website up and running, yet I can't seem to focus enough to read and do the pages. I am seriously frustrating myself.

3. 25# bag of peanuts to make boiled peanuts. 100, 16 oz cups to fill. Doing math to see how much per filled cup out of pocket cost is. Luckily, I am fantastic at math... so this one isn't as problematic... it's just taking a lot of time cause I have to make a # of boiled peanuts to properly measure how many will fit into the cup. Yikes!

4. All of my labels and jars aren't arriving when I need them to! :barnie

5. Decided on a Cattle panel hoop coop for yon ducklets... and found a kick arse trough to use for their pond. Going to TRY and do a DIY bio filtering system, AND use rainwater runoff from the gutters to help refill their pond. So, this weekend we'll be outside... a LOT... building 3 hoop coops, staking deer netting over our 3 raised bed garden, re-netting the top of the run cause Purple Thunder gets out daily, and has now taught her sister, Brain, how to get out too. No bueno!

6. Plus raking out the run and coops for their compost before putting down new layers of straw, hay, alfalfa and sawdust. We may be making a trip into TN, about 40 miles away, to pick up some XL bales of hay, made mostly of timothy grasses and stuff.

7. Tiniest ducklet we have now has a funky eye ball.... so trying to figure that one out. We have antibiotic eye cream and oral amoxicillin and oral penicillin, but nothing injectable and NO IDEA where to buy them. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/white-spot-in-eye.1239402/)

8. Trying to make a list, and checking it 376 times, to make sure I'll have everything for the farmers market on the 12th. I'm sure once I have all the BASE supplies down, the next farmers markets won't be as anxiety inducing! lolol

9. Our test run for our fertilized eggs was a bust, but I think it was kind of everyone and everything being at fault. I think some of the eggs weren't fertile. I think that possibly the incubator got too warm a couple of times. I think we had a few quitters. I also think they had low humidity and didn't get turned as much as they should have. I don't think I'm going to try incubating them again... however, I am going to take the unsalable (ie: dirty eggs) and start cracking them open to check for the bullseye. Definitely going separate out a few dozen eggs and sell as fertile, hatching barnyard mix!

Being over the age of 45, weight isn't going to melt off me....... so, I WILL just keep very active... and also let @staceyj know she was right.... I'm not eating enough protein... and not enough calories in general. Gonna reset and try again! :D

:hugs to everyone. Chickie losses, bunnie losses, weird ass neighbors who aren't smart enough to know humpy stuff means sex (kinda feel bad for her hubby/bf or whatever).

QUICK POLL

If given a chance to attend a free class, AND become certified, which would you choose?

a. HVAC
b. Plumbing
c. Electical

POSSIBLY as a future job to fall back on, definitely to be able to use around the farm.

Miss you guys and I'm gonna sit on my duffer and DO MY WEBSITE TOMORROW.... dishes can wait... but a website that is printed on our business cards cannot wait! Gotta get professional!!!

@Smuvers Farm
1. Glad Vista Print wasn't a bunch of taters over their dirty look.

2. Somehow the web design/computer usage thing skipped me. Sorry, can't help ya there.

3. Glad you're good at math cause you want to sell peanuts at the farmers market not get paid peanuts. ;)

4. Tell em put a rush on it! You got taters to do!

5. Be careful with roof run off. Depending on what type of roofing you have you may not want duckies swimming/drinking it.

6. In Ohio we measure in time...40 miles sounds like a long way for hay bales. What distance is that in minutes?

7. Last I knew our Tractor Supply carried injectable penicillin. In the refrigerator. (I have some in my fridge if you want some. I'll double check the date.)

8. I make lists then loose them. Then make the list again and forget something.

9. That's why it was a test run.

I know you have crazy diet restrictions, so why not add a few more. I've been trying Keto. I read and liked the science behind it. It can reset some internal systems. I admit it's damn near impossible but I lost weight right away. I don't plan on using it forever but it has really made me look at what I'm eating.

It's what my dad does. It encompasses so many things. Including some plumbing and electrical.

9 eggs. They were all alive on day 10.

Thank you! And I hope so too! This is my first hatch! Of course My luck they will all be boys :he
Better all boys than all duds! Did i tell you the LG incubator was up to 133° this morning? :hitI lost a full bator of guinea eggs. Half afraid to try again! But i did find a clear plastic cap to cover the knob with. And i moved it up on top of the dresser.

Good point! I have fingers and toes crossed for strong healthy hatchlings!
So sorry about the eggs :hugs Hope the problem is fixed for good :fl

I think plumbing, but electrical is fun too. Plumbers get the big bucks and get to show off their cracks!:lau

If it cooks another batch i am putting in another type of thermostat. Not sure why they need so much wattage in those bators that they can go that high. No need, they should have an alarm.
I have my silver quail eggs to set, just not sure where to put them. Maybe in the home made bator. Need to candle the eggs already in there and pitch duds.

5. All water entering the pond would go through the bio filter first, so it should be safe... but I'll see what the roof is made up of to be on the safe side. :D

6. It's literally ALL interstate driving, so 40 minutes tops, I guess? We're only thinking about it because the person says they are about 2x the size of a regular bale of hay, probably close to 70-80#s each, and we're paying Lowes damn near $7 per bale....

7. What's the name of the product so I know what I'm looking for? Plus, did you get the needles there as well? I know they damn near had a fit when I asked for 3 MEDICINAL syringes... had to show my ID or they entered it into the computer or something... For syringes with no needle tip and looks like no way to add a needle to it.

I have been low carb, no carbb, keto, clean keto, etc etc etc..... the only way that WOE helps is if almost ALL my calories come from fat... and I just can't sustain that. My body goes into shock and I crave veggies and salads and stuff. I've switched to just counting calories, avoiding gluten and wheat and sugar and nightshades (since I have allergic reactions to them). SO far, things are *kind of* working... but I keep gainging and losing the same 4-5 pounds... so something has got to give. I've had bloodwork done very recently, and everything looks good... even my cholesterol.... so the DR lectured me on how to eat, and to eat less, which is what pushed me to counting calories.... yet, I'm still having issues.... and I absolutely do NOT cheat. There's no sneaking nothing... hell, I haven't even had an alcoholic drink in weeks..... so, I'll just keep at it... and hope the breast reduction helps, since my bewbs will be out of my way so I can exercise better!
