Official Squatch Watchers

Update on us:

The Milk Drinker is night weaned! I haven't nursed him during the night for more than a week! He gets up once a night (usually around 3-4 am) and wants to cuddle with me. That's fine, I can sleep while cuddling, not while nursing him. I am getting much more sleep now. He is also becoming a better eater now that he isn't nursing during the night.

My blood pressure is 100% a okay! I got my new electric arm cuff machine (which I bought a fancy case for and a kids cuff) and my resting blood pressure is consistently 110/70. I think it might have been a little high last week, but I think that might have been from being sick.
Great news!

Mine will never learn the art of apology, he's too much in to his own little world where he can do no wrong. Even when he blames someone for something, and another person fesses up to being responsible, he will not apologize to the person he blamed.

Sometimes I wonder why I still love him, and the kids would be happy if we split up, but I have more reasons to stay, like love and military spouse benefits that are kept when I outlive him. (I know, sounds horrible, but that is part of it that I refuse to risk giving up )

He's never been an active parent, and the kids are the happiest when he's either not home or asleep. One refuses to be in the same room with him whenever possible, and hasn't talked to him in years, because he played a cruel joke and never apologized, even though she was in tears. So, yeah...
:hugs

Good to know my hubs isn't the only turd in the punchbowl.:) BTW my pet crow stole my cookie, sat it on the picnic table went to get an egg and it was gone! I hope it gives him gas.
Crows eat a lot of junk. Can't imagine it would give him gas. LOL Though the mental picture of a poofed up crow floating around instead of flying is rather amusing.

Had lots of nuts in it so pehaps he's rocket powered now. Greedy schmuck, iv'e been feeding it.:)

My Grandpa trained the crows in his neighborhood with hot dogs. He started by calling them in and then leaving the food. Well, they started showing up and yelling if he hadn't come out with goodies by a certain time. LOL
My grandparents would travel and the neighbor said the crows showed up every day waiting. After he passed it took several months for them to stop sitting in the driveway hoping. They kept an eye out for free food for quite some time though.
PBS did a neat show on them.

Turd in the punchbowl.
That’s a keeper for sure.

Awesome story!
Gonna look for that!

So my broody is trying to kill me. Not in the peck me death sense most broodies go for, but the give me a heart attack.

First I had her set up this way...
20180513_094748.jpg
It's all blocked off so no one can disturb her and eat her food and drink her nutri drench water. Found her sitting in different nest. Thought maybe the others were jumping on the nest box because of how it was sticking out.

Switched to this setup... 20180513_151744.jpg
Again all blocked off for her protection. Found 3 extra eggs in the nest! No idea how anyone got in and back out. Figured blocking her off was pointless so took down the barricade.

Found her sitting in a different nest again this morning! No new eggs so not sure why she left her broody box. When I put her back she happily "tuk tuk tuks" and settles in.

So I block her in again, now to keep her put. Other hens really wanted her nest but went elsewhere when they couldn't get in.
Oh, and found another egg with her. So I have Houdini as a hen or my broody suddenly decided to lay another egg!

More my concern is she isn't eating. Pellets with water and nutri drench to make mash... a few mouthfuls is all she'll take. I gave her an egg and she ate that but not much else. If I remove her from the nest and put food directly in front of her she puffs up and tries to bury herself with shavings. I've tried feeding in front of the nest so she can see it. Away from the nest so it's behind her. I even put food directly in the nest... She's just not wanting to eat.
So now what!?! She wanted to hatch chicks soooo bad I thought she'd never not be broody. Now she's nest hopping and starving herself.

HELP!

My broody hens tend to get up 2 or 3 times a day for a mad dash to poo, eat, drink, dust, raise heck along the way then back on the nest.

The biggest issue is if someone else in her spot when she comes back.

You have food and drink right there for her. Just have to get it sealed up so she cannot end up on the wrong nest or others squeezing in.
