Yeah, iv'e had one of those last year made it all the way to lockdown "sorry everything is bator terms with me no idea what lockdown time is called under a broody" waited two days after everybody else hatched and finally broke in. I had a very dry membrane,a lot of "soup" and a really wonky baby. You did good stopping at the membrane.:)

Well, today Bubbles decided she had officially had it with motherhood. :hit Started chasing the babies off if they tried to be too clingy. I knew it was coming. She started squatting again last week and had been inspecting the nest boxes lately. Today she actually laid an egg! Still, even though I was expecting it, I am a little sad. I always kinda hoped she would be a superbrooder like Rae has. Oh well. At least she waited till the babies were fully feathered and able to take care of themselves. :thumbsup

Sees. That’s good, I guess, but also a lot sad.
How old are her babies?
Are they going to be okay on their own?

5.5 weeks old. I think they will be alright :fl. They have each other and by this age even my indoor brooder babies would be outside. And she did teach them really well. They are good little foragers, they fly really well (especially when they are excited) and they know some good safe hiding places in the yard. She also taught them to like me, so I can walk over and pick them up if I think they need help. But they didn’t want to go to bed without her tonight :hit

My first broody quit at about 6 weeks too. I really need to come up with a name for my good broody.

I think I might call her Molly (after Mrs. Weasley) since she is such a good mommy.
