Jealous!! How many peach trees do you have? I never got a whole lot from my trees, but the whole frost during/ after blooming was a problem. My fav was when they'd blossom before the bees woke up.I haven't seen those. I wonder if it is sturdy enough to stand up to attempted ear scratches....
I was up and out at first light. I picked about 30 pounds of peaches and cleaned the big coop. Those were things I had needed to do yesterday. I am less frustrated now that they are done. There are still a bunch of peaches out there but they need a couple more days.
It rained last night so to muddy to have my dogs outside. It should dry out quickly since we are forecast to be hot again.
Sssoooooooo many peaches! I will have to process them for sure since there are way to many to just eat.
Sounds like he's realized you were pretty freakin' great. Good, he should know he screwed up and ruined something great b/c he's an idiot. Be careful you don't get caught up in something, unless you want to. My ex would run back to me whenever he had a tough moment and of course I'd want to help and then after he got what he needed he'd be back to the same games as before. Not that your guy will do that, but watch for the patterns. Love the pics! Did you ask him if he needed a hand? LOLHe wanted to tell me I guess.
He was really lucky he didn’t sever tendons in his hand. Took the hit between his thumb and pointer. 1/4 more either was would have been surgery.
You're not a sicko, I love watching my birds chase bugs around. They're hunting. I do not feel the same way about watching the cat stalk bunnies though.I promise i'm not a junebug sicko. I was cleaning the coop and sat in the doorway to rest and Lulu kept running inside and it sounded like she was eating chips behind me. I finally figured out she was hiding behind me eating bugs so nobody else would know. For something so chunky and low to the ground that girl can move when she's eating!![]()
A lady I work with asked me about brahmas. I def do not need/ want one.. they're huge, which is awesome, but those feet.. the feathers are insane. Super jealous of their set up. I wish we had some grass like that in my run. Funny seeing them slowly casually come out of the coops, mine fly out the door when I open it. I swear they watch for me and are waiting. I'm guessing they don't worry too much about hawks w/ birds that size.I was researching Sallie just to see what i'm going to end up with and found this video which answerd a lot of my questions. Anyhoo, number 1 these are beautiful birds! Number 2 do the coops remind anyone else of clown cars? I mean how is that even possible?![]()
My mom got a trunk load from some lady. Spent forever on them, and bought a hydraulic press to open them. They were literally 95% shell.Ugh, i'm forever busting my butt on black walnuts! My grandma use to make me shell them out for cakes sooo nasty! From what i'm seeing out of Sallie brahmas should be ok with anything that won't beat them up or is too slow to get out of the way. She is the slowest chicken iv'e ever had, does not hurry ever.![]()
I'm on a computer and I didn't even realize that it shows likes and stuff on the side. I knew it shows badges, but never noticed the other stuff. I know it sends me a thing say when I get so many likes.. you'd think it'd make it a little more noticeable. Congrats, I think it's important, even if it is from other people.Yeah, i BYC on my phone as well. Thanks, i love you guys too!
So yeah.. um... how to say this... my 2nd child came from an encounter on the couch while my older one was napping on a Sunday. I know it's harder b/c you live w/ other people, but if you have another room and he's napping in a safe place in your room, go in there. Heck, in the 1700's people literally lived in one room homes and they had 296 kids. Take advantage of his nap time even if it means calling your husband to come inside for a bit. Don't let your kid block you. He'll eventually start sleeping in his own bed (hopefully). My now 13yo daughter slept in my bed Sun & Mon night. It's either out of habit or comfort (safety). What I always did w mine was laying down w/ them in their bed until they fell asleep, at night. Then I'd get up and they'd stay in bed. It sucked, but it worked.. You might also consider a white noise machine or something similar if it's too quiet and little sounds wake him, like if he hears you're up then he gets up type of thing. Co-sleeping has it's disadvantages, getting your space back is one of them.UGH, tonight was horrible. The Milk Drinker must want to remain an only child. He refused to be put down in his crib. I started trying to put him to sleep too early (at 8:15). The extra time probably just wound him up. He eventually fell asleep for the first time around 9:30 like last night. Except...... he would wake and pop right back up any time I put him down.Another 6 tries and 1 hr and 15 min later, I gave up and let him sleep in our bed. So much for "plans". Grr... Tonight, he earned the common nickname I use for him... Stinker.
However, I can't be too mad at him. Mom-mom and Grampy took him to the lake today and he got a bit sunburnt on his forearms and face. I think that is why he kept waking so easily when I went to put him down in the crib.
When we get our second bedroom remodeled, we are getting him a twin sized bed and he won't be allowed in our bed any longer. I'll just lay in the twin sized bed until he falls asleep.
I sure hope so, he didn't start getting settling in until it was pretty dark (9pm or so). Unfortunately, we don't have blackout curtains.
