Good afternoon! @staceyj Yay you're alive and have all your comforts back! @pitbullmomma What in the heck did I just watch? I'm still sick, and for whatever reason I bought a Roxy chicken "the speckled one" and baby chick i'm still a child and I wanted a stuffed chicken. I'm about to start throwing rocks at hubs, he is extra annoying at the moment.:)
:pop Do you always have a pile of rocks ready to toss at hubs?

Morning all :frow

Can't believe you've had chickens for a year and a half and this is the first time you've experienced the joy of a cecal poo... Some foods are harder for a chicken to digest... they go into the caecal gland (or what ever it is) and ferment until the chicken is able to absorb its nutrients. every so often they expel what's in the gland. It is the nastiest possible poo and smells horrible.:sick

@rjohns39 :rolleyes:
Dude!!!! I know what a cecal poo looks and smells like; that is one of my signature scents, lol!!

This wasn't it. It was this clear/slightly cloudy, runny (ahem), spermy looking stuff. It was disgusting! I may be a relative noob, but I know a cecal poo.

This was...like cecal schmoo, lol!

Update on my hen with horrifying egg. (Good news).
DH took her to the vet while I was at work on Tuesday. He took the nasty blob with him to show the vet plus some pictures of the egg. Annnnddddd the vet said she had never seen anything quite like it before :th
The whole staff wanted to see it after they put the blob under the microscope.
Good news though they gave Buttercup a very thorough exam. Checked every inch of her from comb to toes, even down her throat and up the hoo-haa. They also had her walk around the room to check her movement, checked her poop, took her temp and heart rate. She seems perfectly healthy! :ya They think the egg was basically a glitch. They had a longer way of explaining it that DH did his best to relay to me....but basically, as long as she doesn’t develop additional symptoms, they think it will be just a one time thing).

She has laid 2 eggs since the incident. It is the first time in a month or two that she laid two days in a row, and I think maybe the increased laying is a good sign? And the eggs themselves look alright. The first one had a small meat spot and some shell issues, but yesterday’s looked pretty good! :celebrate

Thank you squatchers for the love and support! :hugs

Yay! I'm so glad! You have a good vet. Most of em won't touch chickens (they don't teach us that in vet school normally). If they had to, they could have run an xray but that's $$$. I'm glad she's laying normally again.

I wonder if it was egg white. Maybe she got a little glitch in her system and expelled it before bothering to put a shell on it. Hhhmmmm???
Can't they ever have something normal happen with them?

Hmm, maybe. It did look kinda like egg white.

It was just weird, because it really looked like part of a mating thing. Like, she squatted, I gave her back scratches, and then she WAAAAAYYY squatted and stuck her butt way up and opened up her vent and squirted that stuff out. :sick

Very mating-ish.

I'm not gonna lie, I think I screamed like a little girl a little bit when she did it! lol!

Well, got Chad the pigeon in to his new enclosure. Hopefully he's smart enough to figure out the water system, or at least watch Lizbeth enough to see how she does it. So far he's just sitting there trying to figure out what to do with all of the space. He went from 1.2 sq. ft. to 8 sq. ft. in the course of 20 minutes, with a little fly time in that 20 minutes. I'll get some pics later. DH isn't all that thrilled, he kinda forgot Chad existed over the last 3 weeks.

:fl that Chad doesn't have anything harmful to the parakeets or chickens. He hasn't shown any signs or symptoms of illness or parasites, plus he got the borax bath for creepy crawlies that he may have had. I did have him drink some of the water from that bath, so he should be good on the inside as well. I made sure over the last week that I didn't scrub too much in between bird handling and petting, that way they get slight exposure and maybe get some antibodies built up. I hope everything goes ok now that they are in the same part of the house. My biggest fear is that one will get the other sick and we'll lose one or more of them. That would break my heart. :hit

@Anansi How is Chad the pigeon? (I love that name, Chad, lol) Do you have any recent photos?

As I was checking pelvic bones on the cuckoo marans one of them would sort of do that. Lift her butt up in the air and wiggle a little. Thank goodness nothing came flying out at me. But it reminded me of a cat in heat. She's the only one I've seen do that.
