That’s a cool idea! Gotta find one.
Have fun at the swap today!

If you have a combo embroidery/ sewing machine, a patchwork quilt, or any block quilt, with embroidered designin the center of each block. There are lots of sites for free designs that can be downloaded to the machine or storage card for the machine.

Anyone have ideas on how to reset Gurtrude's egg department?
Could putting her in a dark room for a bit so she stops laying help.... that would be my first thought.

Tums?

She hadn't been laying for about 2 or 3 months, then she started laying messes, but not on a predictable basis. I've tried tums, I've tried vit D with sardines, still nothing with a well defined shell, and most times only a membrane. I will try a week of minimal light and see how that goes.
Not sure if you saw this one yet

Old hen had some interesting insight on why truly shell less eggs are likely not a calcium issue.

I'm thinking these manna pro egg maker supplement would be my next step, since Gurtrude hasn't been doing anything with her oyster shell. I may also get a separate bag of oyster shell and sr if she just doesn't like the one I have. I know that sounds ridiculous, but who knows, it's worth a try. I'll pick that stuff up on Friday, in the meantime, I'll be keeping the lights for the birds off. I'll keep y'all updated. Thank you for being such a wonderful bunch of crazy chicken peeps full of information, spontaneity and hilarious senses of humor. :hugs:hugs:hugs:love:love:love
