I hope you have a good one!

@Auroradream26 you kept BBWs for a while, what's involved with keeping them long term?

I kept CX long term but never BBW. The secret for that was free ranging or tractor living and feeding only twice a day. I managed to keep them around long enough for them to lay. They went down hill once I seperated them for breeding. I have about 5 their outcrossed kids running around now though that are over a year old now.

Thank you very much for the insight. Do you think a single BBW turkey hen could have a good quality life free ranging with a small flock of 11 chickens? She's nearly five months old as of now. She'd share a coop, plenty big and her flockmates are all big docile birds save for a handful of littles.:)

I do want a pet, wasn't going for this one. This turkey was going to be food but fella's little girl isn't having it. They can't keep her, "it is a hen" because neighbors are being rude about the turkey. So they are looking for a home, for Tina. I just don't know a whole bunch about meat turkeys and if she's just going to get super fat and be miserable then there's no sense in me taking her. :)
If you get a turkey, get another one because one by itself gets lonely. Idk how well that turkey will get along with chickens unless its used to them. My turkeys hold a grudge over the Tolbunts taking over "their" former tractor. They chase anything smaller than themselves, although they were tolerating guineas. This morning one got loose while i was moving them from the small pen and that one hen kept pecking it on the head. They chase loose quail too!

I'd love to have more than one but it was like pulling teeth to get the ok for this girl. Tina isn't use to anything but people she hasn't ever seen a chicken or turkey .She'd get to hang out with wild turkeys, don't know if she'd be good with that. I'm willing to give her a shot at being a big chicken, that is about the best I can do. :lau
