Thank you very much for the insight. Do you think a single BBW turkey hen could have a good quality life free ranging with a small flock of 11 chickens? She's nearly five months old as of now. She'd share a coop, plenty big and her flockmates are all big docile birds save for a handful of littles.:)

No problem! As long as she can't just sit around at the food dish all day, she could live a great life. It may not be as long as a heritage turkey but at least she'd have a chance.

Wonderful! I just didn't want her to be miserable, but it sounds like she'll be fine hanging out being a big chicken. I'm perfectly fine with that too.:)

I didn't even think about eggs! That will be a first for me. Think iv'e got a nest crate that will hold her though. Eggs pretty good, or are they better baking eggs like ducks?
She'll give you jumbo eggs come spring... Cracking them is a PITA because the membrane is really tough.

You might have to stop in and visit with us on ralphie's thread.

Nice, i'm always ok with more eggs. I don't think it will take long for her to settle in. She's been mostly lady and little girl kept, man stopped tending her once sandwiches were a no go. She should see the other "chickens" aren't worried and be fine. At least that is my theory.:)
Once she get's used to you, she'll likely sit in your lap and let you do it...

They are a bit denser and richer than duck eggs. I love my turkey omelets.
