These tomatoes are better boys and I stuck two plants in a long dark planter and covered the soil with landscaping fabric. They're in full sun until about 5 or 6. I did give them happy frog potting soil to grow in. The plants are still blooming but I doubt they'll fruit before frost. I think I put them out in May if i'm not mistaken.
I have to figure out how to keep my plants going longer here. In VA I had tomatoes until we got a hard freeze. I also got peppers all year long. Here, my tomatoes die off in late August early September. And the peppers won't set fruit until around August. My plants are loaded with peppers now, but I only got one in spring. I know it has to be the heat, but surely there's some more heat tolerant plants out there. I'm gonna be bugging my extension agent for an education.

Today i washed the bottoms of the dog run panels and sprayed them with silver paint. Looks much better. I also got out the chain saw and cut up the dead trees in the area i am setting up as a run for the guineas. Hopefully i will get that up tomorrow.
I took some rabbit pictures, someone was wondering what i had. So i can put them on CL now, i need to sell them.

I have an idea and am looking for opinions. As I mentioned a few days ago, I added a large run to my coop. I'm looking for a way to tarp the top It has a flat top so I need to tarp it in a way that snow and water won't collect . I know some of you have hoop coops and although I've never seen one it made me think that maybe I could do a similar thing on top of my run. I guess I'm thinking of an arched metal frame of some sort that I could put a tarp over and make it a permanent addition to my run. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this.....RJ, Cappy, Nunny and all you other talented people tell me what you think

The poles would have to be very long to arch over your run........
I think cost and difficulty wise buying panels would work better.......
I think aart has a diagram on what length gives what arch.

How big was your new run again?

Also remember that tarps can act like giant sails.
