Morning.

We should be a bit warmer today. That
MAY mean I can get to fixing the chicken run.

The dog kennels are a muddy mess. :hmm
Those beasts will be spending time inside today.
I found that I do have some long 1x3's and some wire. Might not be enough wire but Home Depot is close by.
I made certain to lock the pop doors last night. I built them like a medieval door so another board slides in to prevent lifting. DH thought I was nuts when I did it. Not so crazy now though.

I am hoping everyone gets to have a good day.

It would only take one smirk for me to turn nasty. Nobody gets smirky when my animals need help, especially if it is your tatering job. If I ask a question all I better get is an answer!
It’s the kitten.
I’m sorry. Should I have gotten an “extra” pet so soon after getting the planned puppy- but after the unexpected death of our cat?
Probably not just in case of unforeseen stuff....

And doesn’t it figure that the one kitten who grabbed my heartstrings was one who, a month into it, turned out to have a gosh darn mystery illness?!?

I was not expecting or prepared to drop $1500 (and counting) on a $50 rescue kitten in the first 3 months of ownership.

Euthanizing him for lack of answers was not an option.

The issue at hand is a small one. (@pitbullmomma don’t come hit me!)

He got the first two fvrcp immunizations from the rescue group.
They said he needed 1 more and his rabies at 4 months. (Nc law)

When I took him for his 1st vet visit, they said they don’t trust the rescue groups vaccines and wanted to start over.

So I agreed to have him tested for fe-luk/aids and get those vaccines too.

The short story is the shot series has been started and suspended numerous times because of his mystery illness -which currently seems to have spontaneously resolved-

After the hurricane I called to notify them that the rash was gone and I wanted to take advantage of that window and get his vaccines finished up.
So when I made the appointment I let the scheduling secretary tell me which one to get first -because she said they don’t give them together.
She said rabies first.
So we did that last week.

The other day I got a call from their head tech who said the two doctors were looking at his chart. (Idk why)
And it appears that now he’s missed the window for the final fvrcp, (AGAIN!) so now he needs 2 more!
All in all he’s had 5 fvrcp’s so far, so Now he’ll have SEVEN, by the time they consider him done.

I am very concerned about this.

Is he an indoor kitty? I'd tell them pound salt he's not getting any more vaccines. He's supposed to get 3 and your at 5. Let the authorities come after you. (Cause they don't have anything better to do then chase down people who haven't given their pets shots.)
My parents last dog couldn't get any vaccines. Poor thing swelled up so bad she couldn't open her eyes. Vet tried giving just one at a time. Nope. Then said just do rabies so she's legal. Nope again. It was something in the carrier solution the she was allergic to. So he said he's not giving her more vaccines. Ever. If someone has a problem come see him.
Kitty's mystery rash could very well be from something in the shots. Put your foot down. Enough is enough. (You don't like them anyway.)

I think part of the reason they don’t like me is just that.
I’m a “non-vacinnator” anyway.
Except for the required rabies.
Jonah is 12 years old.
When he retired from therapy work I stopped getting immunizations and opted for titre testing instead. My vet in Virginia supported that.
Every other year I have his titres drawn.
Yup, all vaccines still active as of January 2018.
Soon I’m going to decline the $200 testing too. He’s old. If they’ve lasted this long, I doubt they’ll wear off in his lifetime.
My pets don’t go to daycare, boarding, dog parks... Nothing. I have a good sized yard and a gigantic pool. They get plenty of outdoor exercise.
And my cats never leave the house except to go to the vet! When I go for his appointment Thursday we are going to have discussion.

In my opinion there are issues that come from over vaccinating.
Due to my own illness I missed Sables final shot by one tatering week!
They insisted we start over. UM NO!

Your kitty is a low risk for infection being an indoor kitty.
I agree they can pound salt.
