Oh man, one of those days where I over do everything! Mixed my haircolor so strong it went through gloves. Made chili and it is so hot you could probably strip paint. Oh and first thing the bottom fell out of the birdseed bag so I REALLY fed the birds. Today might be the day to play the lottery.:)
:barnie:eek:Do you have any hair left?!?:fl:hugs

I was going to do sliding barn door for my entrance. There is a 28 1\2" opening in the wall. So I thought a 40" door would give plenty of extra space on either side for wind and snow protection as well as predator. With the brackets to hold it close to the wall that is.

Don't mind the very rough drawing.
So the yellow part is filled in now. (Not in the picture.) Put the track where the blue line is. There is header there from it being a garage door opening. Then have the door be that green part. A good 5" extra on either side. Black lines would be U brackets to act as a stop on the right and hold the door back from swinging out to far.
I LOVE THIS IDEA!
Your chickens are going to be such cool hipsters!:celebrate

I like to reuse as much as possible. There were two shifter knobs of some sort in the shed. Small, like lawnmower size. I want to use them as pull knobs or a coat hook. I actually saved an gravel rake head too. Do something to bring new life to these old objects.
Super excited the actual roofing is on it's way. Was going to go with the galvanized but I guess my Mom was worried about my Dad and I working with it. So we ordered Ondura. Pretty cool stuff. Bought extra ridge cap to use over the corners of the coop instead of flashing or making wood trim corners.

Btw ya'll it isn't like clown red, it is a deep red "thank heavens for small miracles" but it is henna so it still has a few days before it decides just how loud it is going to be. Did not help one bit that I forgot about it! I'm about to see what four hours looks like. Still better than going to the beauty shop, i'm just not doing that.:caf

Poor lil derps are gonna be scared of momma flame head :lau
I bet it looks pretty though. Red is a fun color.

I have a sliding pop door. They do get gunk in the track but I just give it a quick sweep and it is good to go. So I think maybe it could work. Just make sure you are set up in such a way that it is easy to access and sweep the track. Putting the door above ground and above floor level helps keep the track clear.
The only other issue I could see being a problem is if you got ice in the track. Not sure how likely that is...or how you would prevent it
A good sized overhang of the roof over top of the door would help.

I don't like that Ondura stuff, i used some on top of goat sheds and it was not very durable.

That's not what I want to hear! It's supposed to be good stuff. Hopefully since there aren't a lot of trees around to drop stuff on it it will last longer.
I used Advantech to sheet the building. Its beyond waterproof and moisture resistant.
My beekeeper friend uses it to make hives. I have a cut off piece soaking in a bucket to show how waterproof it is. Hasn't changed in 2 days.
