Anansi I don't care when the turkey is done - I'd be glad to eat it.

Thanksgiving with my family almost always consists of going to my parent's house. Usually, we provide the turkey from our flock. We set a time for dinner and weather that happens or not, it'll be close that's all that matters. We are always there early to help get things ready and the food is always Divine! Who all comes each year just depends on circumstances.
Christmas is the big one though. Since my parents have the biggest house, EVERYONE gravitates there. Our family, all my aunts, uncles, and cousins and their SOs on my mom's side. A couple weeks before the Christmas "feast" all the Aunties (and me since I've been the only one of the "kids" with a family so far) have a meeting with tea and desserts and make a list of who is bringing what for the dinner and everyone ends up bringing extra stuff. We set up a huge buffet table with everything from turkey and ham and potatoes (sweet and regular) to Christmas cookies, desserts, and drinks. We spend the entire afternoon and evening together on Christmas day and it's always a blast! This year is going to be especially exciting! For the time in 10 years, there's a new baby in the family! My cousin and his girl friend had a baby over the summer this year. Our kids are all so lucky to know and be close to all their great aunts and uncles and second cousins (and now third). At least on my mom's side.
Sorry, that got kinda long lol
That's awesome. Sounds like my family. We all really enjoy each others company. On Thanksgiving I do most of the cooking cuz Mom is 85 and I really like cooking and baking. I do the turkey, dressing and potatoes as well as a pumpkin and a pecan pie. Rolls and coleslaw are store bought and everything else is brought by other family members. We all go to my moms early and stay all day and evening .....eat at 1, clean up play games then eat leftover turkey sandwiches before going to see a movie. It's a family tradition that we ho to the movies on Thanksgiving night and Christmas night. Been doing that for over 20 years.Thanksgiving with my family almost always consists of going to my parent's house. Usually, we provide the turkey from our flock. No need to be sorry. I like happy stories.
I think it's great that you have such a sweet sounding family.
