Side note.......
Cart wipes at the front of the store and they put all your groceries in a different (unsanitized) cart at check out.......
I am not normally a germ-a-phobe, but the local Walmart used to drive me nuts with their bagging practices. Someone clearly impressed upon them the importance of bagging all the cold stuff together. Unfortunately, this inspired them to do brilliant things like putting raw meat and icecream together in a bag :rant
Mmmmm chocolate salmonella swirl :sick

Me: Hey, know anybody getting rid of a sewing machine?
Hubs: Yeah, why?
Me: I want to make Santa hats.
Hubs: Just buy one SMH
Me: They don't sell them for chickens.
Hubs: I'll see how much they're asking for it.
Hubs: WTF? You're going to put hats on the chickens!?
Me: I'm going to make you one too.
Hubs: I'm running away.

What most people today know about food science and cross contamination could likely fit comfortably in a thimble. We have to be aware, as we play in chicken poop and other things daily. I remember one of my trips to NJ, DW called and got a line on 5 bushels of canning tomatoes for $5/bushel (they were imperfect looking tomatoes). I told her to go for it. Went to the local ACE in NJ and bought a bunch of jars. The girl at the checkout asked what I was canning and I told her tomatoes. She was perplexed, "you can buy them from the store already canned." Just didn't understand the whole concept of I know what's in them.:rant

Stacey, I had to share your hat with DW she laughed her butt off.
