Official Squatch Watchers

My FBCMs are nice. Not one is a little more leery then the other but not run in terror afraid. The girl in my sugar for wounds thread is a FBCM. She got used to the daily handling easily. Now that she's well she prefer I not snuggle her but again doesn't run in fear or anything.

Check out County Line Rainbow Eggs. She has some of the darkest Marans eggs I've ever seen. I'm very tempted by her birds and she's only about 5 min from my house. Not sure what she prices them at because it's not listed. Makes me afraid to ask.
Thanks Nunny! It is nice to get first hand info from friends instead of just relying on the generic breed description.

My one is a nest box screamer too. LOL She made the pterodactyl noise for me for the first time. I thought her head was going to spin! She only does for other hens though. I actually haven't seen her do it in a while but I'll never forget it. :gig

My buff Cochin lays pinkish eggs! They are beautiful.

And oh oh oh, speaking of colored eggs, I did not tell you guys earlier cause I was taking a break when it happened, but my second legbar pullet FINALLY started laying at the beginning of January. 8 months old, but finally laying. And they are green! I am thrilled! I know blue is more desirable (and the breed standard), but I feel very lucky to have gotten a blue egg layer AND a green egg layer from my pair of pullets :)
Good stuff! One of each always beats two of the same.:)

Yea I know there isn't a specific pink egg laying breed. I just wish I could find one that happens to lay them.
Tempted to dye a derp egg just to mess with you.:caf

They got it wrong when they said "Nothing is certain in life except death and taxes".

They forgot laundry and dishes.
x2

Hhhmmmm.... I was hearing good things about Meyers and since I could pick up I was thinking of using them. But McMurray is offering free shipping for qualified orders.
If you're going the mailed route make sure you watch the weather reports before you ship. I didn't pay attention & got a box full of dead chicks sent to me from Iowa (TSC/Hoover). Also check the shipping times. Meyer's delivers the next day if you ship b/c we're so close, but my chicks from Hoover were shipped LATE Tuesday night and I got them Friday morning, mostly dead. Steve, Loki, Jaiden, & Jackie were all bought locally from a store that bought from Meyer's... The hatched Monday and were delivered Tuesday morning. I bought my 4 eggers from the same place so they were probably also from Meyers. Jaiden, the Delaware is the one who had the tumor, & Steve ended up being an unintentional rooster, so their sexing aren't 100%, but they do guarantee not more than 10% failure. But other than those 2 issues I've had good luck w/ the other 6 for the most part.

I follow her on FB, her birds are beautiful & I'm jealous over her dark brown eggs. I wanted her Jubilees, but I don't need any more birds & I'm not about to start something w/ breeding & they were EXPENSIVE!

Good morning. Its wet, soggy, damp, soaked, dripping, sopping, slushy, waterlogged, saturated, sodden and.................wait for it........MOIST
x2 here. Driving through the school parking lot I made a nice size splash. I took my tiny human to Akron Children's yesterday afternoon & the roads were so much worse. I think Akron has 1 plow truck and the driver was on vacation. My usual entrance ramp onto the freeway is closed so we ended up driving all over hell & back following the gps to get to it. It took us down this residential road that had at least 6" of snow, unplowed. And the best part is that the Child Services Dept's office was down that road. Their parking lot was pristine! It was Tuesday, it hasn't snowed substantially since Sunday night. No excuse for it to be that bad, but apparently they're known for being terrible w/ snow which is bs b/c it's a decent sized city and they are surely getting enough $$ from their city taxes to clean the roads.
