Ok folks. New babysitting nightmare.

*Not the boss lady.

So this nice couple was referred to my daughter for babysitting service.
She’s sat for them a handful of times. 1 child. A 2-1/2 year old.

Yesterday she was supposed to sit for the lady while she went shopping.

Six hours later someone is knocking on the front door.

My daughter looks out the window. There’s a non-descript “work van” parked out front.

Knocking continues. Door knob is being fumbled with.

She hears a woman’s voice yelling let me in g-dammit!

It’s the mom.
And some random man who makes the drinking motion with his hand to his lips behind her. He’s shaking his head and hands her off to my daughter. Turns to leave.

The lady is yelling at him about her “bags” which are piled up on the little porch.

My daughter thinks to take a picture of the man and his van as he’s walking away.

The woman is PLASTERED.
and MEAN.

DD asked if she was okay?
Hurt?
Did she want to call the police?
Go to a hospital?
Where is your car?

The woman says in a very mean way, why the f would I want to do that? You know what?... just get out of my house. Get out. Leave.

DD says she’s not comfortable leaving the “baby” there with her
Could they call the DH and see if he can come home.

Lady starts roughly herding DD to the door.

DD doesn’t want to leave and says you need to pay me. I’ve been here all day.

Lady says she has no money. And that she’s already given her “so much money in the past”. Get out!

DD gets in her car and calls me. Says the DH works 5 minutes away. I tell her to call the police. She doesn’t want to. She’s afraid.

Then I say go to the dh’s workplace now.

Tell whoever it’s an emergency and you MUST talk to him.

He comes right away.
Almost faints.
She tells him what happened and he gets his keys.
Says his wife has a “serious drinking problem” and thanks her on the way to his car.

She’s obviously not babysitting for them ever again. She’s already upset because they know where she works and she’s afraid the lady will come in.

And of course she didn’t get paid.

I said she should mail the DH a bill at his work address, enclose a SASE with her work address on it.

I realize that paying the babysitter isn’t a high priority at this point, but she did forgo picking up an extra shift at work because the lady BEGGED her to babysit.

What do you guys think of this?

Also she said the lady seemed a “little off” when she arrived and she asked her if she was okay.

Sounds like more than just booze to me.

This world is a mess.

Good morning! Day is starting off pretty good, nothing has died yet. Did go out with the morning treat in my pocket instead of my hand....mistake!
My fingers got bitten so much! Brats assume iv'e got something for them and just go for it.
Got back inside and the cat took a crap that has fogged up the entire house, lovely.:caf
Time for fabreeze. :gig

Wow, crazy story!

What I'm hoping for, if they can't find my records, is that I can still try for a VBAC even if I have to sign something that says I understand the potential risks and want to try anyway. At least one of the midwives I've met with for my current practitioners has stated multiple times that they hospital has "standard policies" but that I'm an adult patient that can refuse any treatment I care to. They are also set up for crash c-sections if necessary.

I think it is worth it to try. The numbers are after 1 c-section that I have a 1/200 chance of having a "rupture", which can be anything to a tiny tear in the muscle to a catastrophic rupture (complete opening of the uterus). Only 1% of those ruptures are catastrophic, and only 6% of the catastrophic ruptures are fatal to mother or baby.

Rae,
I had one emergency c-section, one planned c-section and a VBAC. All this within a 4 year period. There are doctors that insist once a c always a c. I disagree. Although my labor was awful with my son it was still a first labor since he was my first regular birth. There are just 22 months between c-section and my son's birth. You can do this. Stick to your guns.

@Redhead Rae You are allowed to make decisions for you and your baby despite "hospital policy". There are plenty of stories of women being bullied into doing things they didn't want to because they were told it's policy.
Most of the time it's to make life easier for the doctor or nurses. Not because it's in your best interest.

Totally agree! :goodpost:

Stacey! OMG what a nightmare for your DD. :hugs

Oh and it is NOW snowing with 3+ inches on the ground.
:barnie I will be shoveling. Yes we still have the atv with plow......no we don't need it. It is sold though and the buyer is making payments to hubby. Yes it sits here until paid in full.

:thWhat a complete cluster.

:thWhat a complete cluster.
You said it Rae!
A complete!
Also same dd just called to say that she was downstairs in the garage of their little house to switch her laundry and she “smelled something gross”. :sick
She doesn’t usually do her laundry there, it’s shared with her other roommates and the tenant who lives downstairs -lol - usually brings it to my house,
Anyway, after she hit the start button and turned around to run up the steps there was a giant possum standing there staring at her.

So she ran screaming up the steps.

Pretty sure in an hour she’ll call me and ask if I can come over to get her laundry out of the dryer! :lau

What in the world is wrong with people? Is it so hard to wait to burn your brains out after are grown and out of the house if you're set on doing it?
I'd definitely be mailing the husband a bill, that kind of day should not be free.:hmm

Febreeze in moderation actually works on cat fog! :lau

Adventure of the day, has been a gross one.
It is winter so there should not be houseflies, yet i'm getting houseflies...why?
Let me tell you why! Old cat rolled a potato all the way from the kitchen to the bathroom and behind the dryer where it died a slow death.
Ever tried fishing out a rotten potato with a broomstick? I tell you right now it isn't easy.:barnie
