Flat 2x4 boards are best for roosts. Chicken are not designed to hang on all night long anymore.Looked Sallie over, nothing on her feet, her legs and knees feel fine. So i'm thinking either hanging on for dear life on that teeny roost sprained her or it is some other freak injury.
It is just one foot, she's hopping when she's in a hurry like a frog. Hardest chicken on earth to figure out, her knees touch she steps on her own feet. How am I supposed to work with that?
If she's still doing it in the morning after the roost upgrade, i'll give her half a baby asprin maybe it will help whatever she's done not hurt quite so bad.
Back of my mind, I have to wonder if she might be faking a little bit just to get picked up too.

Silly chickens!I know, 95% of the roosts are flat boards. I had one teeny little dowel roost in there in a corner that is supposed to be a safe spot for tiny babies.
Problem is my tiny babies aren't so tiny anymore and don't wan't to give that roost up.
They aren't supposed to even be on it!
It is like a 200lb man on a tricycle.![]()
