:barnieGosh darn.
I wish one of you who wants a good broody hen lived near me.

Poor Dory:hit

She is the absolute sweetest girl.
I don't know hardly any other actual chicken people. At least here.
...and my girls are so spoiled and have such a nice life.

If I gave her away I'd want her to live "in the manner to which she's grown accustomed!"
(-not to mention I'd miss her.)

I would take her :D
I love my bannies amd love when they go broody.... less work for me on the homestead lol

Why/how did that happen?!?
Poor thing!
Poor you to have to witness it!

Poor breeding? Maybe a genetic defect? Her heart was huge for her tiny body. I did do a home necropsy. I don't think I want to do that again ever though.
It was several years ago so I am over it but it sure freaked me out at the time. She was less then a year old too.
I have lost 2 to heart issues. The other was a young Dark Brahma. Poor Sarah the DB was fine at 5, struggling at 5:30 and gone by 6.

I have learned to accept the sudden losses.

Today is indoor chore day....I also have to go grocery shopping. I don't like shopping. :(
