There's a tendon the need to snip & she'll get antibiotics for a bit. So I was right to take her in... I kinda felt stupid for bringing her. What I thought was a ball of mud is the tip of her toe.

Oh that looks awful, made me cringe a little. I'm still a little toenail wary though.

The inlaws are trying to get the whooole troupe together to go see Hercules the liger.
I'm going to pass, iv'e seen Hercules and he's cool but the amount of interaction you get with a big group is basically like just going to the zoo.
By myself I got to pet him, looking back he's 6ft tall flat footed so if he had decided to eat me i'd have been screwed.
All I got was a really rough scent marking, so technically i'm still his.

Looks like we lost one of the surprise chickies while I was away and sick. Only 4 babies instead of 5 and I think the two mamas buried it in the deep litter with all their scratching because I couldn't find it. I need to get them outside.

Yep I sure did! He is the world record biggest cat, he lives at the Myrtle Beach animal sanctuary.
He dosen't act much like a tiger or a lion, just a giant housecat.
He's gentle enough to take treats from your hand.

I'm tempted to bathe Rene when it gets warmer, she's beyond dirty and I don't know why.
I can't even tell girl has a red comb, right now its brown.
Nobody else out there is close to that dirty.
Rooster's feet are so red it looks like he's wearing clown shoes though, guess spring is coming.

I always feel silly making vet appointments for the chickens...but it is always worth it. Even if they don't find anything, I get peace of mind. And if there is an issue (and man did your poor girl have an 'issue') it is great to have professionals take over.

You are a great chicken mom! I saw the pics on your other thread and I bet your girl feels better already, cause she isn't dragging that nasty nail around.

Yeah, she seems fine now. She's in the basement & was eating when I left. At first I thought that it was still pretty well attached but after I soaked it and saw the bone was exposed I knew it was out of my comfort zone to deal with. The medicine is for 2 weeks and she seemed really excited about the pink bread.
