Was about to head out back to let the chickens out to free range. Looked out the back door and saw a huge German Shepard staring back at mePoor birds won't be ranging anytime soon

I know there is a guy on our street, a couple of houses down, that has Germans so I assume it is his. The dog isn't doing anything at all aggressive. It isn't interested in the chickens and did not approach me when I went out there. But it is a dog. So I don't trust it. Sigh. DH says he will examine all the fences when he gets home and try to figure out where it got in.

I hope everyone is doing well! Long time no see!!! I wanted to share some news with like minded folks! My Blue Favaucana has been broody for almost 3 weeks. I went and got 3 baby chicks for her to raise yesterday. Only 1 catch... I wanted a Barred Rock and they were already 2 weeks old. I took a risk there, but so far so good! Also an Ameraucana and Australorp.

did you go tell the neighbor where the dog is?
he might be worried sick about it
After I got over the initial shock and fear (unknown big dogs kinda scare me) I tried to take it a bowl of water cause it looked thirsty. It spooked and headed for the back of the property. I can't find it now

I've put some Hardware wire on the cage so nobody can poke their head in and she can't poke her head out. I'm going to keep her in the cage tonight and see if things are a little better tomorrow. Right now she's out but no one is very close to her. A couple of them walked past and everything was okay but I'm worried about leaving her out with everybody overnight in case somebody wakes up with some attitude in the morning. I'm hoping one day in the cage is all it takes. I know it was two weeks but I didn't really expect it to be so hard to put her back in after such a short amount of time.Oh my. If she was attacking through the cage I would tend to think it's her. She could always move to the other side of the cage if she was the victim and not the aggressor. Just my opinion......
